Question

How do the heart beats and the blood pressure vary at rest and after exercise from person to person?

Hypothesis

m
er as
I think after exercises the heart will beat a lot faster than in a normal setting because the muscles need

co
extra oxygen and that forces the heart to beat faster to offer the lack of oxygen. The heart rate and the

eH w
blood pressure will be higher after the second challenge than they were after the first challenge, because

o.
participants are likely to be more exhausted after the second challenge, and their body needs to work

rs e
more intensely to complete the second challenge.

Procedure

1) Investigate the heart rate and blood pressure at rest for at least five minutes.

2) Exercise for 5 minutes per each subject and they need to do the same exercise for the same

length of time.
3) Take readings of the subject’s heart rate and blood pressure immediately following the
challenge.
4) Repeat the readings every minute thereafter until the heart rate and blood pressure returns to
sh

its resting rate.

5) Duplicate the aerobic challenge, and the heart rate and blood pressure again measured until the
subject returns to resting.

Line 2: The second exercise

It was observed that for every person, the blood pressure and the heart beats are different even at rest

and that they even more after the second exercise. An important observation was made, which is that
the values always increase after the exercise and then slowly decrease. Before doing the first exercise,
the heart beat for the first person is 80 beats per min and after the exercises, it went immediately to 180
beats per min and it kept slowing down and it returned to the initial 80 beats per min after 5 min. For
the blood pressure for the first person at rest (systolic –diastolic) is 118 /70 mmHg and after the exercise,
it went immediately to 122/ 78 mmHg and it kept slowing down until it reached the original blood

Discussion
ar stu

The three persons are all different, each one of them has different heart rate and blood pressure. Even
for each person, the heart beat and the blood pressure are variable after the first time of exercise and
the second time of exercise. The factors could be the age. The heart beats rate of a younger person is
is

higher per minute than an older person. According to the tests, the second person is the younger one,
then the first person and last, the third person is the oldest one having the least amount of heart beats
Th

per minute. Also the circadian rhythm, at night the heart beats rate is higher than it would be in the
morning. The genders can be a factor, usually the structure and how the nervous system is regulated is
different than how it is in the woman.
sh

While exercising, there are muscle reflexes, including the respiratory muscles and reflexes from the
carotid–cardiac baroreceptor. While exercising, the higher heart rate requires a higher oxygen quantity in
the blood. When the heart rate decreases after exercise, that means there is an increase in resting
cardiac vagal tone. Usually during the recovery after exercise, the heart beats rate decreases more
quickly even more than the blood pressure. In the blood pressure rate, there is an abnormal decrease

after the exercises because of the vagal tone reaction, resulting from the increase of the activity in the
nervous system. The blood pressure highs the cardiovascular reactivity after exercise. Then, the blood
pressure decrease until reaching its original level weather its in the systolic or diastolic.

That heart rate and the blood pressure will be higher after the second challenge than they were after the
first challenge and it is supported by the experiment. The results show the similarities are between the
recovery curve after the first and the second challenge is that the hearts beats rate and the blood
pressure is that the person at rest has the same heart beats rate and blood pressure. Also, they both
increase after the exercise and then decrease after a few minutes. The differences are that the blood
pressure and the heart beats rate after the second challenge become more hyper and excited than after
the first challenge, because the subjects are more exhausted and their bodies need to work intensely to
accomplish the task due.

Conclusion

The hypothesis was correct, after exercises the heart will beat a lot faster than in a normal setting. The

m
muscles need extra oxygen and that forces the heart to beet faster to offer the lack of oxygen. The heart

er as
beats rate and the blood pressure increase while doing the exercises and increase after doing the

co
exercises even more, because the participants are likely to be more exhausted after the second

eH w
challenge, and their body needs to work more intensely to complete the second challenge.
