On the one hand, an outstanding advantage of taking a gap year is that it offers people an unique

opportunity to explore their career interests. In more detail, the journeys can give people a
chance to discover new cultures, meet and socialise with interesting people, which helps them to
find out their real passion. Furthermore, working a part-time job in a specific field helps people
to figure out if the major is suitable for them or not. As a result, people may not regret the
decision about their major.
On the other hand, a significant drawback of taking a gap year is that it causes difficulties in
readapting to life in education. For example, there is a possibility that after a long period off
from school people will forget academic knowledge, which causes challenges in catch up with
abundant amount of knowledge and group work at university. Therefore, gap year takers
possibly lose their academic momentum, which can slow down their life in education and put
them under great pressure.
