Section 1.01 I. Emergency Procedures and Towing

Section 1.02 I.A. Emergency Shutdown

Emergency stop buttons are located on the load panel of the console and the main electric box. If loader fails to operate
normally — before anything — push one of the emergency stop buttons immediately! Do not restart the loader until the
problem is solved. If necessary, use emergency procedures to move loader away from aircraft.

Know locations of emergency stop buttons before operating loader.

Always push emergency stop button as a safety precaution before

working under platform, to avoid danger of another person
inadvertently operating loader.

NOTE: Pull both emergency stop buttons before trying to start

loader.

(a) I.B. Emergency Fuel Shut-off

If fuel vapors or smoke are detected, do not delay — immediately turn off the fuel shut-off valve, located at the rear of the
right front tire, at the bottom of the fuel tank. This preventative measure may reduce the potential for fire and/or explosion.
If flames are visible, never endanger personnel to turn off the fuel shut-
off valve. Use common sense and get as far away as possible from the
loader in case of explosion.

(b) I.C. NO Emergency Back-up Pump

In most cases, the emergency pump is designed to be used when the engine fails to operate.
Move a functional loader into position behind the disabled loader. Raise platform until flush with the disabled loader.
Transfer cargo onto the functional loader manually.
Make sure that all the cargo on the platforms are removed before raising
the stabilizers or else permanent damage will occur to the front axle.
After cargo is removed from both platforms of disabled loader, raise the stabilizers. See Emergency
Stabilizers Release section I.E.
When loader is clear and ready, see Towing Procedures section I.F.

Before raising stabilizers, chock all wheels front and back. Do not
remove chocks until loader is secured to a towing vehicle with
adequate power and braking capacity.

If a lift cylinder fails or a line bursts, immediately STOP operating

controls. Do not use lift controls. Shut down loader until problem is
corrected by a qualified service person.
All personnel should remain clear of disabled loader, with the
exception of qualified service personnel performing emergency
procedures.
Never enter area under platforms during any operation under any
circumstances.

(c) I.D. Using Emergency Back-up Pump

(d) The loader is equipped with a battery-operated emergency pump as a

back-up to use for emergency operations. In most cases, the emergency
pump is designed to be used when the engine fails to operate.
If hydraulic cylinder fails or a line bursts, DO NOT use the emergency pump.

NOTE: If electrical system fails to operate but there is still power available, use the emergency pump switch inside
the main box as those switches are hardwired to the hydraulic valves.
Using the emergency pump, it is possible to lower both platforms, transfer cargo from disabled loader, and raise the
stabilizers — if these systems are functional. If an isolated switch, joystick, solenoid, or valve fails to operate, the
emergency pump may be used to power most functions. It may be necessary to transfer cargo manually in places, if there
are dead spots.

Always unload cargo from both platforms, lower both platforms (if
possible) making sure that safety props are not engaged, and raise
stabilizers (if possible) before towing the loader otherwise severe
damage will occur to the front axle.

Before raising stabilizers, chock all wheels front and back. Do not remove chocks until loader is secured to a towing vehicle
with adequate power and braking capacity.
NOTE: If stabilizers fail to operate, see Emergency Stabilizers release section I.E.

(e) I.D. Using Emergency Back-up Pump, continued

To use emergency pump, lift the red switch cover. Hold pump switch UP (  ) while using joysticks to transfer cargo from
disabled loader to the aircraft or ground transport vehicle. Hold pump switch UP (  ) while using lift controls to lower both
platforms before towing.

NOTE: The emergency pump is battery-operated and requires sufficiently-charged batteries in good condition. If
batteries lose charge during use, replace them.
NOTE: When using pump, turn off unnecessary lights to save battery power.
NOTE: After using pump, make sure switch is turned off and red cover is closed tightly. Failure to do so may result
in batteries being drained unnecessarily.
NOTE: If loader is equipped with parking brake option (rear wheel), release red knob and use emergency pump to
raise (  ) rear adjust (rear wheels adjust is optional) before towing.

(f) I.E. Emergency Stabilizers Release

If engine fails to operate, in most cases the stabilizers will function using the emergency pump (see previous section) but if
hydraulic system or electrical system fails to operate, or if batteries have been drained of power, stabilizers may fail to
operate.
Before raising stabilizers, chock all wheels front and back. Do not
remove chocks until loader is secured to a towing vehicle with
adequate power and braking capacity.

If stabilizers fail to operate, it is still possible to tow loader after lifting both stabilizers manually. To lift stabilizer, open the
access door beside stabilizer cylinder and gently turn valve knob counterclockwise. This will release the oil pressure
trapped in the cylinder and a spring will lift the stabilizer. Turn the valve knob of each stabilizer slowly at the same time to
raise the stabilizers equally.

(g) I.F. Towing Procedures

Read all previous sections having to do with emergency procedures before towing the loader. Follow these procedures to
clear and ready the loader for towing.
Before raising stabilizers, chock all wheels front and back. Do not
remove chocks until loader is secured to a towing vehicle with adequate
power and braking capacity.

Attach tow line at tow points located on either side of loader. Locate towing bypass valve to freewheel front drive axle as
shown below.

side of Big Block. Turn clockwise
to free front wheels rotation.

(h) I.F. Towing Procedures, continued ( for loaders with AUTOMATIC PARKING BRAKE
OPTION )

(i) The automatic parking brakes (if option is installed on loader) must be disabled in order to be
able to tow the loader. To disable the parking brakes, turn and lock the parking brake valve
knob in the “pushed” position (see picture below).

(s) I.F. Towing Procedures, continued

(t)

(u) Before towing the loader, you have to make sure the stabilizers are UP and that the automatic
parking brakes (if present) don’t lean against the rear wheels. To achieve that, open the main
electrical panel and hold UP (  ) the “EMERGENCY PUMP” switch and the “RAISE
STABILIZERS, REMOVE PARKING BRAKES” switch at the same time until the rear of the
loader chassis doesn’t raise anymore. This will raise the stabilizers and it will disengage the
parking brakes (if they were engaged).

(ff) I.F. Towing Procedures, continued

When loader is securely attached to an adequate towing vehicle, remove chocks from all wheels. Tow no faster than 8
km/h (5 MPH). After towing, immediately chock all wheels, front and back, then remove tow lines.
Towing at speeds in excess of 8 km/h (5 MPH) will damage the loader.

(gg) I.G. Charging Batteries

Charge both batteries together using a 24V source or charge each battery separately using a 12V source. Observe
polarity: negative ( -- ) to negative and positive ( + ) to positive.

Avoid creating sparks which may ignite hydrogen gas from battery.

Failure to observe polarity will cause damage to the alternator.

Check that loader is not in contact with another vehicle used to jump
battery.

Turn OFF main disconnect switch located on the engine compartment (battery side). Connect one end of positive cable to
positive source. Connect other end of positive cable to positive pole of battery. Connect one end of negative cable to the
negative source. Connect other end of negative cable to the ground strap bolt at the frame. Charge as required.
