Neutralisation Reaction Assignments

Instruction : Write your answer to each question in the space provided (fill the blanks)

Four ways of making salts.

1. Acid + Alkali → salt + water

2. Acid + Metal → salt + hydrogen

3. Acid + Metal oxide → salt + water

4. Acid + Metal carbonate → salt + carbon dioxide + water

If

 Hydrochloric acid is used then the salt will be called chloride

 Sulfuric acid is used then the salt will be called sulfate
 Nitric acid is used then the salt will be called nitrate

Complete the chemical reactions below (Name and Formula)

1. Hydrochloric acid + Zinc → zinc chloride + hydrogen

2HCl + Zn → ZnCl2 + H2

2. Sulfuric acid + Nickel → nickel sulfate + hydrogen

H2SO4 + Ni → NiSO4 + H2

3. Nitric acid + Magnesium → magnesium nitrate + hydrogen

2HNO3 + Mg → Mg(NO3)2 + H2

4. Hydrochloric acid + Copper (II) oxide → copper (II) chloride + water

2HCl + CuO → CuCl2 + H2O

5. Sulfuric acid + Zinc oxide → zinc sulfate + water

H2SO4 + ZnO → ZnSO4 + H2O

6. Nitric acid + Magnesium oxide → magnesium nitrate + water

2HNO3 + MgO → Mg(NO3)2 + H2O

7. Hydrochloric acid + Sodium hydroxide → sodium chloride + water

HCl + NaOH → NaCl + H2O

8. Sulfuric acid + Potassium hydroxide → potassium sulfate + water

H2SO4 + 2KOH → K2SO4 + 2H2O

9. Nitric acid + Magnesium hydroxide → magnesium nitrate + water

2HNO3 + Mg(OH)2 → Mg(NO3)2 + 2H2O

10. Hydrochloric acid + copper carbonate → copper chloride + carbon dioxide + water

2HCl + CuCO3 → CuCl2 + CO2 + H2O

11. Sulfuric acid + Iron (III) carbonate → iron (III) sulfate + carbon dioxide + water

3H2SO4 + Fe2(CO3)3 → Fe2(SO4)3 + 3CO2 + 3H2O

12. Nitric acid + Calcium carbonate → calcium nitrate + carbon dioxide + water

2HNO3 + CaCO3 → Ca(NO3)2 + CO2 + H2O
