A. Science Celebration Activities

B. Mechanics and Guidelines


 SIYENSIKULA
 The competition is open to all students of Pili District.
 The participants must discuss a difficult topic under the different branches
of science anchored in the theme through a video presentation that is not
more that 3 minutes. The participants can discuss the topic in English
and/or Filipino.
 All content in the video must be original and are owned by the
participants. Entries may include personal experience and thoughtful
observation. Video must reflect that the student has carefully reviewed and
examined the topic.
 All creative visual tool such as animation, simulations, physical
demonstrations or visual aids are allowed. Entries with photos which are
derivative works will automatically be disqualified.
 Each year level shall send only one official entry to
bernardita.lagumbay@deped.gov.ph
 The email shall include (1) the name of participant, (2) video file, (3) a pd
file of the script along with the references in the Chicago manual o style.
Non submission of any the required documents for the competition
category will be disqualified.
 All entries will be presented via video presentation during the culminating
activity on December 2, 2022.

 Easy - 1

TIME ALLOTMENT PER ITEM
 Easy – 20 seconds
 Average – 40 seconds
 Difficult – 90 seconds
 Each participant must have a white board/illustration board/bond papers,
markers/chalks, and paper and pens (for solving)
 Use of calculators, electronic gadgets, written formulas and the like during the quiz bee is
PROHIBITED.
 Each participant will start with zero score at the start of Easy Round. The
accumulation of points all throughout the quiz bee will be cumulative.
 The Quiz Master will read each of the questions twice. The questions will
also be presented via power point presentation.
 All participants will have to wait for the signal from the Quiz Master before
answering the questions
 No one is allowed to go outside of their private rooms once the quiz bee has started,
unless official breaks are called by the Quiz Master.
 When time is up, the participants will be asked to raise their boards or
papers to show their answers to the facilitators. Participants can only show
up and bring down their boards or papers upon instruction of the Quiz
Master.
 Questions and protests from participants regarding the answer to the items
will be entertained. If a protest shall arise, the participants may raise their
complaints to the Quiz Master, and will be forwarded to the Board of Judges.
Questions and protests must be forwarded before the next question is read;
otherwise, they will be considered invalid. The decision of the Board of
Judges is always final.
 At the end of the EASY ROUND, the TOP 50% (rounded to the nearest whole
number plus one) of the participants will be qualified for the Average Round.
After the AVERAGE ROUND, only the TOP 3 participants will proceed to the
Difficult and Final Round. Tabulation of scores will be given after every
question.
 In case of a tie, a Clincher Round will be given. Participants are allowed
to write down their answers immediately while the question is being read.
Each question in the Clincher Round is good for one minute only. Once a
participant answers correctly, the other participant will automatically be
eliminated. Clincher Round will however continue if none of the
participants correctly answered the question.
 The organizers/facilitators reserve the right to change all rules and
guidelines for this event without prior notice.
 Questions of science Quiz Bee will come from the following areas:
Biology Earth and Space Science
Chemistry Physics

 SCI-PITIK KALIKASAN (Photo competition)


 Open to all JHS and SHS students officially enrolled for SY. 2022-2023
 The contest is divided into two categories: JHS (grade 7-10) and SHS (grade 11-12)
 Participants shall capture an image o our kalikasan inside the school campus that
portray a photo relating to the theme of the year’s Science Month Celebration.
Copying photos rom internet or other domain is subject for plagiarism shall be
automatically disqualified.
 Must not contain water marks, dates, copyright, not commercially published
 Photo should be taken using a mobile device (smartphones, tablets)
 Each contestant must submit 1 original photo entry to BERNADETTE LAGUMBAY
FB account on JPEG format, portrait or landscape orientation and colored or black
and white.
 Post processing of the image is limited to cropping and color enhancement.
 The caption should be in English a maximum of 100 words, must indicate the place
where the image was taken and must have an accurate description o what the photo
is about.
 Qualified participants photo will be uploaded in the FB page of PNHS.
 There will be to sets o winners: set 1 for JHS and set 2 for SHS. Winners shall be
determined through the following criteria.

 POSTER MAKING
 The contest is open to all enrolled Junior high school and Senior High School
students FOR sy 2022-2023
 There will be 2 categories, (a)JHS and (b)SHS Categories.
 Upon submission of your poster, don’t forget to attach your personal
information: (a)Full name (b)Grade and Section.
Example Subject Format: “POSTER_JUAN DELACRUZ_7NARRA_JHS”
 The contestant must illustrate, interpret, emphasize, and expound on the
theme in a 1/8 illustration board using oil pastel.
 The finished posters must be submitted in 8.5x11 inches bondpaper in size.
The poster entries must be submitted in freehand illustration format.
Orientation can be in landscape or portrait layout
 The poster must be an original design. The contestant will be held
accountable to any issues that may arise with regard to the originality and
authenticity of the design.
 The poster must be honestly and entirely completed by the student.
 No assistance in brainstorming and editing is permittable.

 The poster design Must ability to be inventive and creative.

VISUAL IMPACT AND COLOR HARMONY (20)


 The poster design should captive the judges’ sense, taking consideration
in the proper color combination.

 SCI-ESSAY WRITING

 The Essay Writing is open to all enrolled Junior high school and Senior High
School students of Pili National High School. But There will be only 2
participants per year level.
 The participants shall submit their entry after the time allotted in the activity
with a subject format: “ESSAY_NAME_YEAR AND SECTION”
 Entry should be written with black ink ballpen on a yellow pad paper with 1-
inch margin on each side.
 Entry must be in English, with a minimum of 500 words and maximum of 800
words.
 The content of the essay writing will be based on the them.

 Punctuation, Spelling, Capitalization, and Grammar

 SCI-LIKHAWITAN (Likhawit Kalikasan)

 This is open to all enrolled Junior high school and Senior High School students
for SY 2022-2023.
 Can be an individual, a pair or a group of three (3) members. Collaboration of
the participants may be done remotely such as but not limited to online
meetings, email messaging and all available online collaboration
platforms.
 The is divided into two (2) categories, (a)Junior High School and (b)Senior High
School.
 The contestant will compose or write a song related to the environmental
Conservation specifically water concerns and its current environmental issue
and/or condition that we have.
 The lyrics must be an original composition and must not have been used as
entry in any song competitions.
 The content of the music must be lively, appealing, creative and must highlight
the theme.
 Any musical instrument can be used as accompaniment at the composer’s
discretion.
 The contestant shall create a music video of the Sci-LikhAwitAN showing
him/herself/themselves, playing instrument/s and the lyrics.
 You can use tagalog, bikol, english language in creating your song lyrics.
 The entry must be performed during the culminating activity on October 14,
2022.

Herbarium Making

1. There must be 1 representative from JHS/SHS


2. . Collecting, drying, and preparation of materials must be done prior to the contest. Placing
and arrangement of specimens will be done during the contest proper.
3. A4 size Plastic or wooden Frame will be use.

4. Identification or labeling of the specimen or dried plant must be attached to the herbarium
board or frame.

Diorama Making

The creation of the Diorama must be an illustration of environmental scene and must show
unique interpretation of an event.

The images are constructed as two-dimensional or 3d views using some sort of box (size 1/4
illustration board on front view for uniformity).

The box should be painted on the outside and inside.

1. Each school must have 1 team representative composed of 3 students from JHs and SHS at
any year level
2. 50℅ of the materials to be used must be crafted from recycled or indigenous materials
3. Time allotment is 2 hours maximum.
