Dear Parents and Guardians,

The G.S. Lakie Middle School Travel Club is excited to provide this out of school learning
experience for your child. We will be travelling to Banff and Canmore Alberta from
February 11th – 14th, 2024 a detailed itinerary will be handed out closer to the day that
we leave.
The trip will include some uniquely Canadian winter experiences in the Rocky
Mountains.
We will ascend the Gondola on Sulphur Mountain and take a dip in the famous Hot
Springs pool. We will do the Cave and Basin tour, go skiing or snowboarding at Mt.
Norquay in Banff, travel to Lakie Louise go on a horse drawn sleigh ride and tour the
famous Chateau Lake Louise. The trip will include lots of opportunities for socialization
as well as swimming at our hotel and eating in some nice family restaurants.
The approximate cost for the trip is $800, but we will have a more exact amount at our
meeting on October 23rd in the GS Lakie Learning Commons
We have scheduled the trip on these specific days so as not to interfere with school
sports or fine arts programming. The itinerary below is a sample of what we are
planning, it is subject to change due to weather and availability.

Parents will be asked to attend two parent meetings. The first will be on Monday,
October 23rd and the second near the end of January. We have a fundraising
opportunity that will run from mid-October until the end of November, the money from
the fundraiser will go toward the bus costs for the trip. There will be more permission
slips to fill out and sign closer to the date that we are leaving, for both the school
division and the ski hill, but for now we ask that you sign below to acknowledge that you
have seen a sample schedule and that you realize that the initial deposit of $100 is non-
refundable.
We are grateful to be able to travel with and provide unique experiences for students at
G.S. Lakie and cannot wait to depart for Banff soon! Contact one of us if you have any

I ______________________ understand that the $100 deposit that I will pay for the
Banff Trip 2024 is non-refundable. Once this form is received at the office, there will be
an account set up on School Cash On-line for me to make payments for the Banff Trip,
including the initial $100. More details will be available at the first parent meeting about
exact costs but at this point, the cost is approximately $800 per student.
