ACTIVITY DESIGN ON FACULTY EXPENDITURES FOR ONLINE LEARNING DELIVERY

THIS SCHOOL YEAR 2021-2022

I. RATIONALE:

Matiao National High School has been offering blended learning modality in this
pandemic, and the only one that braved up the integration of online learning modality in
SDO Mati. This came to be when it became clear that majority of the SHS courses did not
have modules and can only be taught using old references, which cannot be mass-
reproduced in respect for their copyrights.
We managed the last year by constant departmental conferences to address problems
head on, which include but not limited to identifying students with no means for online
class and providing them the needed gadget and access.
Looking back, our relentless efforts paid off, as our graduates are now well-trained for
online college instruction and in fact, have been reporting of their class leadership duties
and helping their college classmates navigate the online platforms.
With that feedback from our alumni, reading news reports on the Philippines losing
P11 trillion pesos in the next 40 years due to the non-physical classes, or how a 2019 study
shows our 'significantly lower' results in Grade 4 Math and Science than any other country,
only reinforced our commitment to do whatever we can, however little, to mitigate the
effects of the pandemic in public school education.
However, these efforts proved to be financially challenging to teachers because though
hard work is a non-question, it is the lack of money that can prove crippling at times.
This is due to needs that are unfortunately new and therefore, unforeseen. In the past
year, the faculty carried the brunt of these new expenses so this school year, we are hoping
that the school can help us do better at our jobs by taking away our worries for certain
expenses in the delivery of the online instruction.

II. OBJECTIVES:

1. Reduce the financial challenges of teachers offering online classes

2. Maximize available but paid educational apps
3. Provide quality, 21st century instruction in a public school setting
4. Do follow-ups on learners who are at risk
5. Facilitate year-long online activities that are relevant to both the SHS courses and
the DepEd school calendar

III. VENUE: Online platforms: Google Meet for Synchronous Classes, Google Classroom for
Tasks and Assessments, Discord for Interactive Quiz Bees, Facebook for Live Streaming

IV. DATE: Sept 13, 2021 – June 24, 2022

V. EXPECTED OUTPUTS:

1. Recorded lesson via Screencast-O-Matic

The free Microsoft 365 app that DepEd graciously provided, has blocked its video
PPT option due to its hefty cost. Screencast-O-Matic is a lot cheaper and much
lower in size, which means that it is a data-friendly option, especially to students
who download our video lectures.

2. Better video lesson quality through premium mobile video editing apps
Editing video lessons is the primary factor to stimulating the students’ interests.
Unfortunately, good editing tools come with a price tag as well.

3. A Google Drive that is capable of storing all students’ output

All submitted tasks in Google Classroom go to the teachers’ Drive, which can only
contain 15 gigabytes of free memory. That size will not suffice since majority of
student outputs are in video form.

4. Curricular output on relevant SHS courses through online workshops,

webinars, contests, and interactive youth campaigns
It became evident that providing online departmental activities maximizes the
students’ interests and productivity. We are hoping to capitalize on this in order to
facilitate not just the students’ academic skills, but also their mental health.
