7e's Chemical Bonding
Grade Level 9
Date
Time allotment 60 minutes
Performance Standards
The learners demonstrate understanding of how atoms combine by transferring or by
sharing electrons.
Learning Competencies and Objectives
At the end of the lesson, students should be able to:
identify the types of chemical bonds;
differentiate between ionic and covalent bonding, and classify the bonding in a
compound as ionic or covalent.
differentiate between polar and nonpolar covalent bonding.
describe the nature of the bonding in ionic and molecular compounds.
ELICIT (5 minutes) Materials
Review periodic table (metal or non metal), valence
electron,metals, metalloids and non metals
ENGAGE (5 minutes)
Bonding with friends, family.
Table salt( chef salt bae)
Atoms bond as well
EXPLORE (15 minutes)
Ion cation and anion , Valence electron, covalent, polar and
non polar, (single, double, and triple bond) ionic bond.
