SAT Math Prep Syllabus

By Sophia Stewart, Khan Academy & Chat GPT.

Rules:
1. Student will spend at least 1.5 hours a day on this class.
2. Student may work ahead depending on planning. (MSG, Travel)
3. Student must finish the khan academy work first. Only after and only if there is time, can the
student proceed to other assignments. (Videos, Projects etc.)

Month 1: Math Foundations

Week 1:
o Go through Unit 1, Lesson 1 “About the Digital SAT” for both Reading and Writing and Math.
o Create a College Board account and download Bluebook™.
o Take practice test 1 on the Bluebook app
o Get your practice test score and analyze the question-by-question breakdown. Read explanations
and rationales for any questions you missed. Make note of any patterns: are there certain kinds of
questions you missed more often than others?
Additional Assignment: Watch Lecture + Notes explaining effective time management strategies for the
SAT:
Project Idea: [optional] Create a study schedule for the next four weeks, outlining daily tasks and time
allocation for different subjects and practice.

Week 2:
o Math Unit 2: Foundations: Algebra (including Unit test)
o Assignment: Complete additional practice problems from Algebra basics. Utilize resources like
Khan Academy or College Board's official practice materials. Focus on areas where you
struggled during the unit.
Additional Assignment: Watch video (Lecture & Notes ) on solving basic algebraic equations
Project Idea: Design a poster that summarizes the key algebraic formulas and rules learned this week.
Include examples to illustrate each concept.
Week 3:
o Math Unit 3: Foundations: Problem solving and data analysis
Additional Assignment: Watch video explaining data interpretation techniques (Lecture & Notes)
Project Idea: Research and present a case study involving the application of statistics and data analysis in
a relevant industry, such as marketing or sports analytics.

Week 4:
o Math Unit 4: Foundations: Advanced math
o Math Unit 5: Foundations: Geometry and trigonometry
Assignment: Explore online platforms for advanced math and geometry practice. Solve a set of
challenging geometry problems and advanced algebraic equations.
Additional Assignment: Watch a video on advanced geometry concepts (Lecture & Notes)

Month 2: Math: Medium

Week 1:
o Take practice test 2 on the Bluebook app
o Get your score: how did you do compared to the last practice test? Analyze the question-by-
question breakdown. Read explanations and rationales for any questions you missed. Make note
of any patterns: where have you improved, and where do you still need work?
Additional Assignment: Ask chat-GPT for strategies to improve. Create a mind map that visually
organizes the types of questions you struggled with in practice test 2. Include strategies for improvement.

Week 2:
o Math Unit 6: Medium: Algebra
o Practice problem topics you struggled with and create, step by step, in your notebook.
Additional Assignment: create aesthetic guidebook (for Eden + Judah) for Practice Problems ^

Week 3:
o Math Unit 7: Medium: Problem solving and data analysis.
o Assignment: Research and find real-life scenarios that involve complex problem-solving using
data analysis. Present your findings.
Week 4:
o Math Unit 8: Medium: Advanced math
o Math Unit 9: Medium: Geometry and trigonometry
Additional Assignment: Watch a video on advanced math problem-solving strategies: (Lecture & Notes)
Project Idea: practice problem topics that you struggled with and create a final page in your notebook on
how to solve difficult problem.

Month 3: Math Advanced

Week 1:
o Take practice test 3 on the Bluebook app
o Get your score: how did you do compared to the last practice test? Analyze the question-by-
question breakdown. Read explanations and rationales for any questions you missed. Make note
of any patterns: where have you improved, and where do you still need work.
Project Idea: practice problem topics that you struggled with and create a final page in your notebook on
how to solve difficult problem.

Week 2:
o Math Unit 10 Advanced: Algebra
Assignment: Research and present an application of advanced algebra in fields such as physics,
engineering, or economics. Discuss how algebraic concepts are used in real-world scenarios.
Assignment: Watch a video on real-world applications of advanced algebra (Lecture & Notes)

Week 3:
o Math Unit 11: Advanced: Problem solving and data analysis
o Assignment: Analyze a set of complex data-driven problems. Write a report detailing your
problem-solving process, including the methods you used to interpret the data and arrive at
solutions.
Additional Assignment: Watch a video on advanced data analysis techniques: (Lecture & Notes)
Project Idea: Select a current news article that involves data analysis. Present the article to the class and
discuss the mathematical techniques used in the analysis.

Week 4:
o Math Unit 12: Advanced: Advanced math
o Math Unit 13: Advanced: Geometry and trigonometry
Assignment: Prepare a mini-lesson on a challenging geometry math concept. Teach the concept to Judah.

Month 4: Targeted Practice and Mastery

Week 1:

o Take the Math Course Challenge. Go back to the lessons in which you struggled the most.
Review the lessons and do more practice problems as needed.
Week 2:
o Take the Math Course Challenge. Go back to the lessons in which you struggled the most.
