SUMMARY OF CHAPTER 1

Our chapter 1 in research is all about introduction. It consist the background of the

study,research aim,statement of the problem,theoretical framework,conceptual

framework,paradigm of the study,related literature and studies including the foreign

literature and studies,local literature and studies lastly the synthesis.In our chapter 1,

we do the background of the study. The background of the study discuss or explain

all about our research title which is the Effect of Sleep Deprivation to the Academic

Performance as Perceived by the Selected Accountancy, Business and Management

Students of Lemery Colleges A.Y 2021-2022 and to give the overview of our

research topic.The background should be written as a summary of the interpretation

of the research and what your study proposes to accomplish.

Secondly,the research aim is means to point or direct or even to try with a

particular goal in mind. An example of aim is to point an arrow at a target like in our

study,the researchers aim to determine how to sleep deprivation affects tha students

academic performance who is experiencing sleep insufficiency.Next the statement of

the problem is also in chapter 1 so we ask the questions on our respondents and the

questions are the profile of the respondents according to their age, gender and the

grade and section. Also the most common reasons why the selected ABM students

of grade 12 in Lemery Colleges are having sleep deprivation and the cause and

effects of the sleep deprived lastly the solutions that can be applied to get rid of

sleep deprivation. Furthermore, we also done with the theoretical and

conceptual framework.Theoretical framework is provides a general representation

of relationships between things in a given phenomenon. It also proposes relations

between them, and discusses relevant theories based on a literature review. The

conceptual framework embodies the specific direction by which the research will
have to be undertaken.And the conceptual framework helps to illustrate the expected

relationship between cause and effect in a financial context.

Next is the Paradigm of the study. The Paradigm of the study shows that the

study focuses on the input, process, and output. The input consists of the profile of

respondents in terms of age, gender and grade and section, reasons why students

are having sleep deprivation, causes of sleep deprivation, effects of sleep deprivation

in students’ productivity and to their academic performance, and solutions that can

be applied to get rid of sleep deprivation.And shows the process wherein the

researchers gather necessary information through interviews and the output is

the solutions for sleep deprivation that is affecting the students’ academic

In the Related Literature studies consisting the foreign and local literature

and studies lastly the synthesis. In making RRL,we use the different literature

such as books,textbooks,manuals and many others and references from

internet. it talks about the knowledge and findings from existing literature

relevant to the sleep deprivation.And it is the detailed review of existing

literature related to our research topic.Lastly,The synthesis is about concisely

summarizing and linking different sources in order to review the literature on a topic,

make recommendations, and connect your practice to the research.
