Quality System Procedure Doc. No.

: SAPL-III/QSP/0708

Revision No. 01
SAPL-III Control of monitoring and
measuring devices Date 03.11.2015

1.0 PURPOSE

To detail the methods employed to control, calibrate and maintain inspection,

measuring and test equipments (IMTE).

2.0 SCOPE

This procedure is applicable to all inspection, measuring and test equipments,

which are used to demonstrate the conformance of product to the specified
requirements.

3.0 RESPONSIBILITY

3.1 Senior Engineer quality is responsible:

(a) To control, calibrate and maintain inspection, measuring and test
equipments.
(b) To maintain the calibration records

4.0 PROCEDURE

4.1 The inspection, and measuring test instruments for measuring product
characteristics will be selected on the basis of the measurements to be made
and the accuracy required.

4.2 Every inspection and measuring instrument will be identified with a unique
code number, also called "control number". The control number will be having
a Four-letter title to represent the type of instrument followed by running a
serial number to indicate the identification number of instrument of a particular
type. The control number will be attached to each of measuring instruments to
facilitate immediate recall as and when required.

4.3 The frequency of calibration for any inspection, measuring and test equipment
will be decided based on the following:

(a) The type of equipment

(b) Manufacturer's recommendation
(c) Extend and severity of use
(d) Frequency and formality of in-house check
(e) Trend data obtained from previous calibration records
(f) History of maintenance and servicing of the equipment

4.4 An annual calibration plan for all the inspection and measuring instruments
will be prepared based on the defined frequency of calibration.

4.5 All the inspection, measuring and test equipments will be calibrated as per the
"Calibration Plan"

4.6 The calibration will be carried out either internally or through approved calibration
agencies as planned.

4.7 The inspection, measuring and test equipments will be calibrated against certified
equipment having a known. Valid relationship to national/international
recognized standards and the trace ability certificate will be obtained.

4.8 The inspection, measuring and test equipment will be calibrated on receipt in the
as received condition. If the error is more than the accuracy claim, the instrument
will be suitably serviced / adjusted and the calibration will be repeated.

4.9 The status of calibration will be indicated by affixing calibration stickers for each
instrument. The calibration sticker will indicate the date of calibration and the
next, due date for calibration.

4.10 The instruments with valid calibration and having the calibration stickers only
will be used for the purpose of demonstrating the conference of product to the
specified requirements.

4.11 External agencies for calibration are enhanced to have a defined scope. The
selection of external calibration agencies are such that either they are approved
by customer or accredited to ISO/IEC 17025 or national equivalent.

4.12 When any internal lab is used for inspection, test or calibration services, Lab
Manual is documented and implemented.SAPL-III maintains the internal
Laboratory and lab manual is developed refer SAPL III /QSP /0708-01.For
internal calibration Format SAPL III/F/139 will be used

4.13 The calibration certificates furnishing required details for both as received
condition and after service / adjustment will be obtained, when the calibration
have been carried out by external agencies.

4.14 The calibration records for inspection, measuring and test equipments will be
maintained in the form of "Calibration Standard cum History Sheet" for each
instrument.

4.15 Inspection, measuring and test equipments will be handled and stored in such a
way that the accuracy and fitness for use is maintained.

4.16 If equipment on use is found to be out of calibration, then the previous tests
results are assessed and documented for the validity of results by using master
inspection equipment.

4.17 IMTE will be accepted after calibration verifying calibration certificate and
acceptance of the IMTE

4.18 IMTE which is unsuitable for use is taken out of circulation.

4.19 Measurement System Analysis will be conducted to analyse the variations

present in the results of all type of measuring and test equipment.as per Plan

4.20 The analytical methods and acceptance criteria used conforms to those
addressed in customer reference manuals on MSA.

4.3 Measurement System analysis will be done also for the Gauges / Checkers used
(Attribute Study) In the Production Line.
