IN LANDSCAPE DESIGN

The garden is an essential component of your
house and contributes to its appeal. The improve-
ment of your garden depends on careful planning.
It's crucial to landscape design your yard so that
you may grow plants that are ideal for your garden
and add to its aesthetic appeal. The expert land-
scape designers decide this based on a variety of
variables.
Here are the five (5) major factors that have
to be considered to get the best landscape design-
ing services.
THE PURPOSE OF LANDSCAPING

Consider the major uses

you have for your yard. The
outdoor space is commonly used
for entertainment, gardening,
parties, relaxing, occasional
picnics, and play by most
households. Keeping these pur-
poses in mind, plan the land-
scape design accordingly. Con-
sider all those who are likely
to use your yard, specifically
children and pets when you are
consulting the designers. You
can then choose landscape de-
signs suitable for them.
CLIMATE AND SOIL TYPES

The climatic condition of your locality should be con-

sidered when you are choosing the plants and the theme for
the landscape. Map the yard, and find out the sunny and
shady areas, the usual wind direction to decide what compo-
nent of the design would be best suited at that part. Con-
sider the soil type of your yard. It can influence the
drainage, pH level, and the type of plants which would
thrive best. Depending on the type of soil, planning for
underground drainage has to be done. Also, if needed, the
soil has to be treated first to convert it into a more ir-
rigation-friendly type like humus soil.
USING YOUR EXISTING PLANTS

You likely will have some

plants and shrubs in your yard
before the work is done. Recog-
nizing the which plants can be
incorporated into your land-
scape design is important. This
way, you can avoid unnecessari-
ly removing every plant and
starting fresh. Choose plants
that have a use apart from aes-
thetics. For example, certain
shrubs and ornamental plants
are suitable for use as a fence
or barrier plant. You can even
section your yard based on the
type of plants that grow in a
particular zone. The tempera-
ture, shade and light, and the
soil condition, also influence
the choice of plants at a cer-
tain location.
THINK ABOUT THE FUTURE

Try to visualize how the

landscape design will look in
the future. You likely have
certain reasons for choosing
such a design in the first
place. Are those reasons going
to stay valid after few years
as well? For example, consider
the scenario of choosing a
certain landscape design for
its spacious structure, and
easy access to every corner of
the yard. But the plants and
saplings of your choice are
likely to grow up into huge
trees in a few years, thus the
primary purpose of choosing
the landscape design is ren-
dered futile after.
MAINTENANCE AND COST

Whether you can afford the

maintenance of the overall
landscape design is another
important factor to be consid-
ered. Choosing low-maintenance
plants is a good way to cut
down the cost of fertilizers
and pesticides.
Consulting a professional
landscape designer can fur-
ther help you in maintaining
the yard better. They can sug-
gest the most cost-efficient
and custom-made solutions for
your green spaces.
