THE DIFFERENT PHILLIPINE PROFESSIONAL STANDARD FOR TEACHER (PPST)

DOMAINS

Domain 1, Content Knowledge and pedagogy

Content and Pedagogy acknowledge the value of mastery of topic knowledge and its
interconnection within and across curriculum areas, as well as solid and critical
understanding of the application of teaching.

You must be ready for anything that might happen since teaching is challenging,
especially when you don't know how to handle unexpected situations. Since some of your
students may already know the answer and are only testing your understanding of the
content, you should be prepared for any questions they may have. On the other hand, other
students may have a lot of questions, and you will need to answer them all.

Our cooperative teacher always said that we need to master our lesson. So during
my free time, I searched about my topics and studied it well.

During our discussion, I frequently used a variety of related analogies to encourage

my students to make connections to the topic and retain it. In this way they can express
their self-more. There are some knowledge that they can share with their classmates and it
will help them to gain more information that they can also apply.

Domain 2, Learning Environment

This domain emphasizes teachers’ role in promoting learner responsibility and

accomplishment by creating safe, secure, fair, and supportive learning environments.
This Domain focuses on building a learning-focused environment in which teachers
can effectively regulate student behavior in both physical and virtual spaces. It emphasizes
the importance of instructors utilizing a variety of materials and providing intellectually
demanding and exciting activities to promote positive classroom relationships that
lead to high learning standards.

In my experience as a teaching intern at DMMMMSU Laboratory High School,

regulating student behavior is difficult. During my first demo teaching, I noticed that the
students are very interactive; some of them are shouting when we have an activity like a
game before our discussion about the topic officially starts; they can't stop shouting with so
much joy, and sometimes they talk with their seatmate while I am discussing. When you tell
them to stop, they will also be quiet, but after a minute, they will shout again and talk to
their seatmate. So during my second demo, I already knew what to do and what strategies I
needed to apply so that they could be more organized and focused on the discussion. I
added rules to maintain their behavior and make them more organized. Before the class
starts, there are rules that the students must follow, and we teachers make sure that
everything is orderly and clean inside the classroom to be safe, secure, and have a positive
learning environment for the students.

Domain 3, Diversity of Learners

This domain highlights the importance of instructors in creating learning

environments that are sensitive to student diversity. This Domain emphasizes the
importance of teachers' knowledge and comprehension of learners' different qualities and
experiences, as well as respect for them, as inputs to the planning and design of
learning opportunities. It promotes the appreciation of diversity in the classroom as well as
variety teaching approaches to help all students become effective citizens in a
changing local and global context. Life lessons are usually learned in a variety of ways.
People discover vital ideas that help them live and lead more pleasant, successful
lives, from personal experiences to classroom instruction. A few lessons on being able to
cope in society are ones that everyone should learn and spread awareness about.
People have learnt to recognize, comprehend, and appreciate variety in our ever-
changing society.

There should be a good instructional material available for each lesson. The tools we
must utilize in the classroom are instructional materials. We have 21st-century or
contemporary instructional materials that are timely because we are currently
implementing flexible learning. We are the only ones left. From my perspective as a
teacher, we are the best teaching resource available to students.

The vast majority of the students in my class prefer video-based learning because
they believe it to be more efficient. I therefore always give it my best and occasionally
create my own teaching materials, even though it can be difficult to find a video about the
particular topic.

These instructional materials greatly aided me in catering to all of my students'

different learning styles by making it more attractive so they participate and interactive
during class discussion. Every time I discuss, I used a variety of strategies and teaching aids
in order to make sure that a broad set of students learned.
Domain 4, Curriculum and Planning

This domain is concerned with teachers' understanding of and engagement with

national and local curricular standards. This Domain comprises their capacity to transform
curricular knowledge into learner-relevant learning activities based on effective teaching
and learning concepts. It expects instructors to use their professional skills to plan and
organize well-structured and sequenced classes, either independently or in partnership
with others. These lesson sequences and learning programs should be contextually
appropriate, sensitive to the requirements of learners, and include a variety of teaching and
learning tools. Teachers are expected to explain learning goals to students to encourage
involvement, comprehension, and accomplishment. All the scheduled activities that we
organize to enhance learning personal growth, and development of the students are
included in the school's curriculum. It encompasses not only the formal obligations, but
also the different extracurricular events organized by the school to enhance the student's
experience. We want students to develop in to good, responsible individuals who can work
and collaborate with others while also expanding their knowledge and abilities in order to
reach their goals.

In doing our first lesson plan we need to write it in cursive, it is challenging for me since I
am not that good in writing that way. But then, I do my best to finish my lesson in time
since it is my tools for my demo teaching so I really need to finish it. When I have free time I
practice to write in cursive so that it is easy for me next time. Ma’am Cleo also help me to do
my lesson plan, she suggest thing that I need to know and improve to make my lesson plan
successful. She check if my lesson plan have a wrong grammar or the transition is correct.
She is the best teacher for us and we’re to have her as our cooperative teacher.

Domain 5, Assessment and Reporting

This domain is concerned with the procedures involved in monitoring, assessing,

recording, and reporting learners' needs, progress, and accomplishment using a range of
assessment methods and methodologies. This Domain is concerned with the use of
assessment data to inform and improve the teaching and learning process and programs
in a number of ways. It is about teachers giving students the essential feedback on their
learning results. This information influences the reporting cycle, allowing instructors to
choose, organize, and implement effective assessment procedures. In the field of education,
assessment procedures are critical. They not only demonstrate what students have learned,
but they also give crucial information about a lesson. To determine student knowledge,
arrange of evaluation procedures must be applied. Involving students in the evaluation
process allows them to understand how their knowledge has improved and gives them
inspiration and pride to continue their learning journey. In the new DepEd Grading System
in Science Junior High School, the final grade of the students is composed of 50% Written
Outputs and50% Performance Tasks.

When creating assessment we need to sure that all objectives should be considered.
In my first demo teaching I observe that there are some of the students that are active,
while others are not. I know that they have answer in some of my questions but they are
shy to express their self. So in our second demo teaching, the assessment part is we do it by
group because I know that the students can boost and express their knowledge when they
learned with their same peers. And I observe that all of them participate while doing the
activity, this is one of the techniques I recommend to all of my co-teaching interns. After I
checked all the papers of the students, Ma’am Cleo collect them all for students to have a
reviewer.

Domain 6 Community Linkages and Professional Engagement

This domain recognizes teachers' responsibility in forging school-community

relationships aimed at improving the learning environment and including the community
in the educational process. This domain requires teacher to recognize and act on
opportunities to connect classroom teaching and learning to the experiences, interests, and
goals of the larger school community and other relevant stakeholders. It focuses on
teachers’ awareness and fulfillment of their responsibilities is sustaining professional
ethics, accountability, and transparency to foster professional and harmonious
relationships with students, parents, schools, and the larger community.

Domain 7, Personal Growth and Professional Development

Domain 7 is concerned with the personal and professional development of teachers.

It emphasizes instructors' correct and high personal regard for the profession by upholding
traits that promote the dignity of teaching, such as compassion, respect and honesty.
Personal and professional reflection and learning to enhance practice are valued in this
Domain. It emphasizes the need of teachers taking on personal and professional
development as part of lifelong learning. Being a teacher is not as simple as many people
believe. Being a teacher entails not just knowing the topic being taught, but also being
willing to continually better oneself holistically, as well as upgrading the tools and
materials one utilizes in the classroom. Reflecting and assessing the ideal technique to
educate kids to learn and how to get them to expand what they've learnt on a regular basis.
The many hours spent in the classroom will never be enough to organize lessons, prepare
materials, and examine students' assignments and tests, as well as all the administrative
duties for whichever institution we work in.

Seminars have been really helpful to me since I wanted to learn a lot of new ideas
that I could use in my teaching. Learning new things aids in my personal development and
growth. It helps me progress professionally and learn things I can inside the classroom.
Additionally. Before we deploy, we attended a seminar on campus where I discovered all I
needed to know about teaching.

My practice teaching experience had a big impact in me. I had experience to become
a real teacher. I became more responsible with my duties as a student teacher. Practice
teaching is where I had learned a lot of things which had helped me to improve. Practice
teaching is where I developed my good personality as a teacher.
