History of the Laserna Ancestral House

The existing ancestral house was built in the 1930's by my grandparents Vicente and Josefa Laserna. With the American
colonization and influence, it was patterned in a streamlined Art Deco style which was a fad at that time.

During World War II, after my grandparents had left and evacuated to a very remote area, the house was utilized by some
members of some prominent families of Capiz as their last staging area before they evacuated to their respective evacuation
places The house being a 3-story edifice and the largest and most visible house in the Main Street of Capiz (now Roxas City),
was occupied by the Japanese Imperial Army and became their headquarters and garrison. It was a kilometer away from the
town plaza. They had put up a sentry post with barricades and served as the entrance to the town of Capiz (now Roxas City)

After the war, the American Baptist missionaries who were our next door neighbors returned and continued the operation of
Capiz Emmanuel Hospital and Capiz Home School, now Filamer University, the biggest university in Roxas City and in the
province of Capiz

Now, being in the main street of Roxas City it is surrounded by modern buildings and establishments, the integrity and legacy of
the structure of the Lasema Ancestral House edifice remain and retain it's beauty and splendor, a living proof and witness of the
past and serves as an inspiration for the generations to come. To preserve, rehabitate and continue the legacy of the historical
hentage of our 30-year old ancestral house, proper maintenance and restoration had been done by yours truly.
