My name is John Hart and I am writing to be considered as a student teacher candidate in your
district. I am a fourth-year student at Dakota State University majoring in Elementary Education.
I also have K-12 technology and Reading endorsements, with plans to add coaching
endorsements as well. I am excited to begin student teaching as the final step of my teacher
preparation program.

My skills, teaching philosophy, and experience have prepared me to be a great student teacher
for your district. I excel in social studies and ELA knowledge as well as pedagogical approaches
that are proven effective for middle school students. I have strengths in innovation and
creativity when it comes to assessing students content mastery, and I firmly believe in creating a
growth mindset within the classroom. My coursework at DSU has prepared me to make each
student a lifelong learner by teaching them the foundations of content areas, as well as teaching
them to use relevant technology literacy and integration. I also have an interest in being
involved in extracurricular activities like oral interp and school plays to help students develop
every aspect of themselves.
