Directions:
Using size 7 needle and CC, cast on 54 (63, 72, 81, 90) stitches. Join work into the round, being

Round 9: Cut MC, attach CC and work 1 round knit (ribbing ends at this point)
Round 10: *k3, k2tog* repeat between * * to the end of the round 24 (28, 32, 36. 40)
stitches remain
Round 11: knit
Round 12: *k2, k2tog* repeat between * * to the end of the round 18 (21, 24, 27, 30)
stitches remain
Round 13: *k1, k2tog* repeat between * * to the end of the round 12 (14, 16, 18, 20)
stitches remain
Round 14: *k2tog* repeat between * * to the end of the round 6 (7, 8, 9, 10) stitches
remain.

Continue to decrease evenly to 4 stitches (keep knitting 2 stitches together until 4

stitches remain) and work a 4-stitch I-cord using two of the DPN’s for 2 (2, 2, 2.5,
3)”and bind off.

Tendrils:
Using size 8 needles, cast on 12 stitches. Knit into the front, back, and front again of
each stitch on the needle. 36 stitches. Bind off purlwise on the next row. The piece
will be very curly. Cut the tail, but remember to leave it long enough to use it to
stitch the tendril onto the hat.
Repeat the tendril pattern for the second tendril, using 24 stitches instead of 12.
Your increase row will yield 72 stitches.

Stitch the tendrils onto the hat, near the base of the I-cord for a natural pumpkin
effect. Weave in all ends and block to measurements.

A friendly reminder:
Garter stitch in the round is worked *1 round knit, 1 round purl* repeat * *
