1
System Overview
1.1 Introduction to the system
CYW- 201 is an automatic disinfection device for flexible endoscopes, which has been designed
to help you with your daily routine work.
The installation of the CYW-201 will be done in a few minutes.

Insert manually pre-cleaned endoscopes into the basin, connect the channels of the endoscope,
and turn on the device.
At the end of the program, a perfectly cleaned, disinfected, rinsed and dried endoscope is
ready for the examination of your next patient.
1.2 Intended Use
Only properly trained individuals may operate. Never use the device for any purpose other
than the manufacturer’s specific intended purpose.
CYW-201 is a device which automatically washes and disinfects the surface of endoscopes and
the inside of its channel using the disinfectant.
Follow the instructions advising from the manufacturer as the way to wash and disinfect
depends on the manufacturers.
This is a medical device and must be used in a hospital and medical institution.

4
Installation
4.1 Unpacking and Inspection
The CYW-201 automatic endoscope washer & disinfector system has passed full quality
assurance testing before shipment. Thus, the unit should be operated upon delivery. The unit
should be unpacked, installed and tested only by an authorized Choyang Medical
representative.
4.2 Space Requirements
The working area for CYW-201 should be prepared according

to the dimensions shown in figure on the right.
- Device size : 620mm(L) x 620mm(W) x 1030mm(H)
4.3 Environmental requirements
Do not install the device in the following places

Unstable or inclined surfaces.
Outdoors or places that exposed the gases(ex. Sulfurous
acid gas, chlorine etc.) or high humidity.
The range of environmental conditions

To ensure that the CYW-201 can perform optimally, it is recommended to keep the
environmental conditions as below.

4.4 Line Power Considerations
The unit is delivered factory-set for the proper ac line voltage rating of the country to which it
is shipped. The ac line voltage appears on the label affixed to the rear panel.
The unit is equipped with a power cord – one end for connection at the rear panel of the unit,
the other end with a 2-pin plug for connection to a single-phase ac receptacle, suited to the
labeled power rating.

4.5 Other Requirement
The device is gravity-drained it is essential that the distant drain is lower than the water at the
rear part of device.
The best drainage conditions are achieved by installing the distant drain connection less than
20cm from ground level and not more than 1m distant
4.6 Installation
1. Connect water hose to both ends of water tab and water inlet.
2. Make sure to insert the drain hose into a floor drain positioned lower than the drain out
on the CYW-201
3. For user’s safety, connect earth cable to water pipe.
Never connect the earth cable to plastic

plumbing lines, gas lines, or hot water pipes.

5
Operation
5.1 Power Supply
1. Plug in the power cable to the power supply.

2. Turn on the circuit breaker on the back and on/off switch on the front of the device.
* The LED indicators on the control display show that the power is switched on.
Never use an extension cord.
5.2 Water Supply
1. Turn on the water supply valve.

2. Turn off the water supply valve when the device is not in use.
* Water can be supplied by pressing on/off switch. Level sensor that prevents liquid in basin
from overflowing is installed.
* It is required to use under 3kgf/cm2 water pressure.
* Potable water is the minimum standard. Incoming water must be pre-filtered to minimum of
0.45 microns. The water filter is included with the device. The routine maintenance schedule
recommends every 6 months or sooner, depending on the pre-filtration system and the
quality of the incoming water.

5.3 Detergent Supply
1. Open the detergent hole cap in the basin and pour detergent by using that funnel.
2. Close the detergent hole cap in the basin.
* You can check the level on the tank level in front of the device.
* Select a detergent solution that has bacteriostatic properties to inhibit bacterial growth in the
detergent reservoir and detergent line. The dual enzymes in the detergent rapidly attack
soils and the low foam properties aid effective recirculation. Follow the manufacturer’s
dilution and temperature recommendations.
Never use household detergent in the device.
Do Not be re-used.
5.4 Disinfectant Supply
1. Press the <PROGRAM> button to change “manual” in order to

pour disinfectant onto basin.
2. Seeing the floating sensor on the corner of up left, pour
disinfectant till the full position, and press <RE-TANK> button on
the control panel 2 times continuously. In short, disinfectant goes
down to the disinfectant tank.
3. Buzzer will sound, when finished.
* Select a low-foaming, high level disinfectant specifically manufactured for high-level medical
instrument disinfection. The product must be capable of destroying M. tuberculosis.
* Consult the product label for appropriate contact time and temperature when programming
the disinfection cycle.
Do not mix with detergents or other chemicals
* Disinfectants must be monitored for potency on a daily basis. Consult the disinfectant
manufacturer recommendations for monitoring guidelines.
* Use the manufacturer’s test strips to test the potency of the solution on a daily basis. If the
potency of the solution is below its minimum recommended concentration discard and
replace it with fresh solution.
* Never use disinfectant beyond the manufacturer’s recommended reuse life, even if the
potency levels are acceptable.
* Never use disinfectant with unacceptable potency levels, even if the reuse date is unexpired.
5.5 Endoscope Pre-cleaning
All endoscopes must be pre-cleaned prior to disinfection.

Before connection the channels of the endoscopes to adaptors on the device, manual pre-
cleaning is required to minimize contamination.
Follow the endoscope manufacturer instructions and established professional guidelines to
properly pre-clean the endoscope.
The following are the usual method.

1. Washing a secretion or blood on the surface of endoscope right after examination.
2. Brushing inside of biopsy channel (use a brush supplied by endoscope manufacturer)

5.6 Leakage Test
Leakage test an endoscope prior to disinfection procedures.
This automated test is not a substitute for the endoscope

manufacturer’s manual leakage test. Follow the
manufacturer’s instructions when performing a manual test.
Use the following procedure to leakage test an endoscope.

1. Install the water-resistant cap.
2. Connect leakage tester’s coil tube and connector to device and endoscope as the below
picture.
3. Load the endoscope into the basin.

4. Press <PROGRAM> button to change “AUTO” or “MANUAL”
5. Press <LEAKAGE> button for more than 2 seconds to fill up water in the basin
6. Water supplied after 5 seconds, supplying air inside of scope.
7. Check any bubble coming out, moving insertion tube up and down, right and left.
8. If any bubble found, first of all, the scope must be taken out immediately and repaired.
9. After 5 minutes, water will be drained out automatically without supplying air anymore.
10. Detach leakage tester adapter for next procedure.
11. Press yellow button to blow out air in endoscope after leakage test.

1. Assemble the channel tubes and the channel connector adapter as the below picture.
2. Connect the endoscope’s channel and device’s channel.

(Refer to each endoscope manufacture’s manual for the
connection.)
3. Put all of accessories in the accessory basket.
4. Push the channel button in the basin to disconnect the

channel tube.

5.7 Time set
User can set up ‘washing’ ‘detergent’ ‘disinfectant’ times.

Press <PROGRAM> button to change “MR.set”, and set up ‘washing’, ‘detergent’ and
‘disinfectant’ times you want, pressing <WASHING> ,<DETERGENT> and <DISINFECTANT>
button one by one.
Users can set up ‘washing’ ‘detergent’ and ‘disinfectant’ times they want, as following limits:
* Washing / detergent : 10 sec ~ 120 sec (every 10 sec), 2 min ~ 5 min (every 30 sec)
* Disinfection : 1 min ~ 10 min (every 1 min), 10 min ~ 20 min (every 5 min),
20 min ~ 60 min (every 10 min), 1 hr ~ 9 hr (every 1 hr)
Disinfection time : Follow the specification of

disinfectant manufacturer.
Disinfectant expiration : Follow the specification

of disinfectant manufacturer

5.8 Auto mode
After time set, transfer to ‘AUTO’ program again and select one of modes you want.
And then the device is ready to operate as set-times, upon pressing <START/STOP> button.
# If you press <STOP> button in the middle of operation, you must press <STOP> button
once more to go back to normal modes.
# In auto or manual, if any failures of operation even after pressing <START/STOP> button,
press <DRAIN> button for all water out then press <START/STOP> button again.

5.9 Manual mode
Manual mode is for each operation. Press <PROGRAM> button to change

“MANUAL”, and then press each button to perform what you want to operate.
- WASHING : When you push the washing button, washing process
operates as much time as you set. It is completed with alarm after automatic
draining.
- DISINFECTANT: When you push the DISINFECTANT button, disinfectant process operates
as much time as you set. it is completed with alarm after used disinfectant goes back to the
disinfectant tank.
- AIR : When you push the air button, the air is provided to channel connector with pressure
for 15 seconds.
- DRAIN : When you push the drain button for 2~3 seconds, it is completed with alarm after
liquid in basin is drained outside of the machine.
- ReTANK : When you push the button two times after pouring the disinfectant in basin, it is
filled in disinfectant tank. It is recommended to check that there is no liquid in basin before
filling with the disinfectant.
- DISCHARGE : When you push the discharge button for 2~3 seconds, the disinfectant in its
tank is discharged after pulling the disinfectant in the tank up to the basin.
It is recommended to drain the used disinfectant at most using the outlet which is located
lower side of front door.

Cleaning & Maintaining
6.1 Cleaning
- Keeping the device clean improves its performance, reduces unnecessary repairs, and
lengthens its life.
- You should keep basin dry after use.
- It’s best to clean spills on the outside of device as they occur. Use a soft damp cloth to gently
wipe away spills and dust. Do not use benzene and thinner. It can be cleaned with a neutral
detergent or alcohol using a clean, soft cloth.
- If you decide to dispose of this device, please observe local waste disposal regulations.
6.2 Tank Liquid Discharge / Supplement
1. Disinfectant discharge / supplement

1) Disinfectant replacement
The disinfectant life cycle depends on many different kinds. After a month past at least,
it must be replaced normally. In the shortage of disinfectant, ‘DIS. LOW’ warning lamp
appears of the control panel.
2) Disinfectant discharge
Press <DISCHARGE> button on the control panel more than 3 seconds.
Open the door located in the left front of this device and find discharging holes with
faucet.
3) Disinfectant supplement
Refer to disinfectant supply on chapter 5.
2. Detergent Supplement
- No need to discharge detergent (in case of the shortage, refill some from time to time,
checking the tank level indicator)

3. Water Discharge
- No need to discharge water except any case of moving or not using for a long time.
- Discharge water through water discharging hole (water faucet) in the bottom left on the
front this device.
6.3 Replacement of components & Cleaning method
1. Basin cleaning
- Open the lid after using the device to keep dry in the basin. (Except when long term
disused.)
- Periodically wipe the inside of the lid and the basin with a dry soft cloth to remove any dirt
or liquid.
- Level sensor in the basin : Open the cap of the level sensor and softly clean the sensor with
a endoscope brush. Carefully screw on the cap again.
- Channel connection(PMCD) in the basin : Clean the inside of channel connection(PMCD)
with a endoscope brush.
2. Disinfectant filter cleaning

① The cleaning procedure is needed when debris is in the disinfectant filter.
② Open the disinfectant filter cap to the right which is located in front of the frame.
③ After taking out the filter net and removing the debris, start to wash with water.
⑤ The cleaned filter net is in place and screwed the disinfectant filter cap.
Unless the disinfectant filter cap is not properly closed, the

leak might occur during disinfectant procedure.
3. Fuse (replacement)
① Open the fuse holder. (If necessary, use the tool such as a flat-head screwdriver.)
② There are two 250V 5A fuses. Close the fuse holder after replacing fuse if needed.
- Fuse is necessarily recommended to use the certificated product.

Disinfectant & Detergent
The efficacy of a disinfection procedure is directly related to the disinfectant solution used and
the amount of time the endoscope is exposed to that solution.
CHOYANG MEDICAL INDUSTRY LTD. provides information about the disinfectant & detergent to
be used, as established during type testing.

AIDAL PLUS made in Australia (Whiteley Medical)
For HIGH LEVEL DISINFECTION, Soak instruments in undiluted solution 35℃ for 5
minutes or 20℃ for 10 minutes.
AIDAL PLUS is a stable, odour suppressed, mildly acidic 2% glutaraldehyde based sterilant
suitable for use in hospitals, dental/medical surgeries and veterinary Hospitals for the
sterilisation and high level disinfection of critical and semicritical medical devices.
AIDAL PLUS shows several major improvements over alkaline activated Glutaraldehyde.
Improved biocidal performance is achieved with reduced glutaraldehyde odour and reduced
propensity for irritation and yellowing to human skin compared with alkaline glutaraldehyde
preparations.
AIDAL PLUS has been tested in a wide array of tests and various conditions, including testing
at the end of the shelf life, at the end of the re-use period, diluted to the minimum
recommended concentration of active material(1.5% glutaraldehyde), and then soiled and
tested in hard water against hardest to kill organisms.
AIDAL PLUS will not damage endoscopes or other complex medical equipment when used in
accordance with directions and the instrument manufacturer’s instructions.
AIDAL PLUS has demonstrated performance as a bactericidal, fungicidal, virucidal,
mycobactericidal and sporicidal high level disinfectant with complete efficacy under these
conditions as a Class IIb medical device.
