1. Click on the add points button

2. Use your mouse and click on the video to

add points as the video advances frame by frame.

For closely spaced data, you can skip

a few frames by clicking on the advance frame button

As you add points, the data is plotted on the graph paper in the background

We will do a curve fit on the Y-data:

Fit the data to a parabola and click Try Fit.

Note the RMSE gives the quality of fit of the curve to the data (closer to 0 is better).

The constants A, B, C have physical meaning. Compare the kinematic equation to the curve fit
equation:
y = v1t + at2/2 y = At2 + Bt + C
a/2 A
v1 B
0 C

So, we see that

• 2A = acceleration due to gravity in this case
• the initial velocity is given by the constant B (should be zero)
• the constant C should be zero

2(-5.1) = -10.2 m/s/s (the acceleration due to gravity obtained from this data).

When you save your Logger Pro CMBL file, it will actually save the video file in the same folder the
CMBL file is saved. It would be wise to save each experiment in a separate folder.
