LESSON PLAN IN ENGLISH GRADE 10

FOURTH QUARTER CYCLE 2

I. Objectives:
With-in a 60-minute period, the grade 10 students will be able to;

A. identify and differentiate various forms of academic citation (MLA, APA, Chicago)
and academic references (The Citation – Sequence System or C-S and The
Name-Year System or N-Y.)
B. recognize, value and reflect the significance of doing citations and references in
any academic paper.
C. And practice citing various sources and learn what to do.

A. Preliminary Activities:

B. Lesson Proper

1. Motivation Activity
“Cite your Sources!”

Procedure: The teacher will be flashing sample sources (books, online sites and
prints), and the students are tasked to do an observation based on the samples that
the teacher will be showing using the In-text citation or End- of text citation. Finally
they will be asked by the teacher in form of questions upon what they have observe.

Overview

The teacher will be directing the class to a short Youtube video clip that clarifies
academic honesty. The students are expected to reflect and be able to create views
and perspectives based on the video shown. At the end of the video an exit ticket will
be given to the class through asking a general idea of the video (perhaps new)
attitudes towards academic honesty.

Analysis

The teacher will ask 2-3 students to share their views or opinions upon seeing the
video shared by the teacher and its connection to the subject matter that the teacher
will be discussing.

 What is 'plagiarism'?
 Have you ever copied other work without citing the source?
 Why do people copy and paste work without citations?
 How can we learn to be 'academically honest'?

2. Abstraction
After the Analysis of the activity, the teacher will discuss the following:

● The teacher will first define and differentiate citation and references.

● Citations

-The teacher will discuss citations, give examples, and it’s two types (In-text-citation
and end-of text citation) and elaborate the two kinds of in – text – citation (integral and
non-integral ).
● Types of citation styles
-The teacher will discuss various citation style and elaborate each of those with
samples.

● References

-The teacher will discuss the topic about References and its types (The Citation –
Sequence System or C-S and The Name-Year System or N-Y.)

3. Application

Activity

Procedure: The teacher will be flashing sample sources (books, online sites and prints), and
the students are tasked to do a CITATION based on the samples that the teacher will be
showing using the In-text citation or End- of text citation
