REAR WIPER BLADE RUBBER
Removal
Take out the rubber by pulling the stopper-equipped side
(the side nearer to the pivot) in the arrow-headed direction Stopper side
in the figure.

BE00105-99999

Main Points of Installation

1. Wiper arm & blade
2. Operate the wiper motor, until it reaches the automatic
stop position. 25 - 40 mm
3. Set the wiper arm & blade to the position shown in the
right figure. Tighten the pivot nut.

REAR WIPER MOTOR

Check
After confirming the body earth of the wiper motor,
perform the following checks.
(1) Ensure that the wiper operates when the positive (+)
terminal is connected to the positive (+) terminal of the
battery. (Leave the negative (–) terminal in connected
state.)
(2) With the wiper motor held in the operating state above,
disconnect the positive (+) terminal of the battery, thus
interrupting the operation of the motor.
(3) Disconnect the coupler from the negative (–) terminal.
Connect the positive (+) terminal of the battery to the
terminal (+). Ensure that the wiper motor stops at the
automatic stop position.

Tester probe by your finger
REAR WINDOW DEFOGGER WIRE
NOTE:
(1) When wiping the glass surface, use a soft, dry
cloth. Move the cloth along the wire. Be careful not
to damage the wire.
(2) Never use washing agent or glass cleaner which
contains abrasive compound.
(3) Wrap the tip end of the tester probe with foil strip Heat wire Foil strip
so that the tester probe causes no damage on the BE00118-99999

heat wire during the voltage measurement. Check

the voltage by pushing the foil strip against the heat
wire with your fingers, as shown in the figure.

1. Open wire check

(1) Turn ON the ignition key switch.
(2) Turn ON the defogger switch so as to energize de-
fogger wire.
(3) Check the voltage at the center section of each
heat wire.

Voltage Judgment criteria

Open wire
Approx. 5 V Good (No open wire) Good
Approx. 10 V or 0 V Open wire 4–6V

REFERENCE: Open
• If the voltage is 10 V, it means that open wire exists + wire
10 V
between the center of the wire and the end of the
positive (+) side. If the voltage is 0 V, it means that Volt Open
open wire exists between the center of the wire and meter wire
0V
the end of the earth side.

2. Locating point of open wire

(1) Connect the positive (+) terminal of the voltmeter
to the positive (+) side of the defogger wire. Open wire
(2) Slide the voltmeter’s negative (–) terminal wrapped 0 volt Several volts
with foil strip on the defogger wire from its positive
+
(+) side to its negative (–) side.
(3) The voltmeter reading changes from 0 V to several
volts at the point where open wire exists.

BE00120-99999
3. Repairing point of open wire
(1) Clean the point of open wire with white gasoline. Repair agent
(2) Affix masking tapes to both upper and lower por-
tions of the point to be repaired.
(3) Stir repair agent (Du Pont Paste No. 4817) thor-
oughly. Apply a small amount of the repair agent to
the repairing point, using a fine brush. Open wire
(4) Two to three minutes later, peel off the masking
tapes.
(5) Do not energize the defogger wire within 24 hours Masking tapes
after the repair. BE00121-99999
