1.5 HEI modules (Transformers)

HEI module for PB#1 and PB#3 in good condition (when energized spark sound was detected) but HEI module for PB#2 is
damaged as when energized, no sound came out and LCP's power tripped. As spare HEI modules are not the same model with
original HEI module, Murphy decided to replace all HEI modules. After replacement, all HEI modules are producing spark.

Original HEI module New HEI module

Replaced

Note
Original HEI module
for PB#1 and PB#3 are
still good and can be
used as spare.

1.6 Ignition cable

All ignition cable in good condition as spark sound was detected at pilot burner

2. Pilot Burner
2.1 Pilot burner tip & 2.2 Orifice plate inside tip
Pilot burner #1 : Tip has some cracks. Almost half of the orifice plate inside the tip were gone due to crack or heat corrosion.
As one spare new pilot burner is available, this damaged pilot burner #1 was replaced with new one.

Damaged pilot burner #1

Replaced

Newly installed pilot burner #1

Pilot burner #2 : Tip has no cracks. But, the orifice plate inside tip has some minor cracks. This crack condition must be
checked again in next shutdown and if the orifice plate are missing, the pilot burner must be changed to new one in order to
sustain stable pilot flame.

Current condition of pilot burner #2

Note
Murphy has no more spare for
pilot burner. Applicot
recommend to purchase new
pilot burners until next
shutdown

Pilot burner #3 : Tip has no cracks. But, the orifice plate inside tip has some minor cracks. This crack condition must be
checked again in next shutdown and if the orifice plate are missing, the pilot burner must be changed to new one in order to
sustain stable pilot flame.

Current condition of pilot burner #3

Note
Murphy has no more spare for pilot burner. Applicot recommend to
purchase new pilot burners until next shutdown
2.3 Strainer & 2.4 Orifice nozzle
Pilot burner #1 : Installed new pilot burner, therefore strainer and orifice nozzle is in good condition. No checking was made.

Pilot burner #2 : Strainer is in good condition and cleaning was performed. Orifice was blocked by coke and cleaning was
performed.

3.4 Windshield
Cracks and deformations were observed and shall be replaced in next shutdown for longer life of flare tip.

Welding portions here that

hold the windshield to flare
tip are cracking. If these
cracks worsen the windshield
will drop. Shall be reweld or
totally replace new windshield
in next shutdown.

3.5 Velocity seal

Cannot confirm due to obstruction of inner V plate

Recommended spare parts based on this inspection result

No. Item Quantity Reason

1 Original pilot burner (less T/C) 8 pcs No spare
2 Applicot new design pilot burner (less T/C) 4 pcs We observed that the ignition probe of current pilot burner damaged easily due to it location very near
to the main flame. Our new design pilot burner locates the ignition probe at the lower part of flare tip
which reduce the probability to get damage from heat radiation of main flame, hence increase it life.

3 Ignition probe 8 pcs Currently, only 4 spares available. Total required is 12 spares

4 Thermocouple 12 pcs We observed that current double element thermocouple is having no advantage as once the 1st element
damage, there is high possibility that 2nd element also damage. We also noticed that current 6.4mm
→Single element sheath diameter is not thick enough to protect the elements from the heat radiation.
→Sheath diameter 8mm

→Less MI cable

5 Windshield for GOPA & GOPB 2 pcs Current windshields are in bad condition

6 Pilot light (red) 8 pcs Currently, only 4 spares available. Total required is 12 spares

7 HEI module 7 pcs Currently, only 5 spares available. Total required is 12 spares
