i Learn & Share Activity: 1st Semester

Practical Research 2
Overview
To promote collaborative learning in SHS classes, the iLS for this applied subject may be merged or
"threaded" with SH1690 - Physical Science . To facilitate the smooth integration of various disciplines in the
curriculum, the iLS student groupings in this subject and the said courses should also be the same.
Collaboration and integration will benefit you in leveraging available resources and learning opportunities,
and making meaning between your subjects.

This performance task aims to synthesize the integrative experience of implementing community-
action initiatives applying Physical Science and Quantitative Research concepts, ideas and methods; as well
as proper construction and execution of quantitative research.

Intended Learning Outcomes:

At the end of the i Learn & Share Activity, the students will be able to:

 conceive a quantitative research topic and provide information to it;

 deliver a credible research that is replicable and justifiable by others;
 demonstrate mastery and knowledge over the chosen research topic; and
 conceive and present a marketable and tangible material that will benefit the selected local community.

Procedure and/or Evaluation Guideline

“For a Brighter Tomorrow”

The Department of Science and Technology (DOST) annually holds a Research and Development (R&D)
Conference which tackles innovative research and products spearheaded by top scientists. Junior researchers
are also given the chance to showcase their research work to various prospects that will help realize the
students' work. This is done by the government agency to help various local communities in various aspects of
their living, such as livelihood, meeting basic needs, and the environment the community lives in, among others.
Your group is sent by STI, in partnership with a representative from DOST, to help a local community of your
choice through a carefully structured research paper aimed to help the community. You are tasked to create a
quantitative research material that utilizes all learned knowledge of Physical Science, be it Chemistry or Physics,
to produce a marketable and tangible product, which aims to help the chosen local community by using what is
available in the said community and be able to sell that product for both your group's and the community's
benefit.

Goal Create a quantitative research material that utilizes all learned knowledge of Physical Science,
be it Chemistry or Physics, to produce a marketable and tangible product, which aims to help
the chosen local community by using what is available in the said community.

Role Student researchers, Student purveyors

Audience Head Researchers of STI, DOST representative, and local community head
