TOGETHER 1

EXT. NARROW WALLED SIDE STREET IN JAPAN – DAWN – LONG SHOT


A singular ray of light is beamed by the sun, highlighting both
the spots of fresh stubble in the bottom right corner of TARO’S
face and the building situated to the right side of him. The pure
summer breeze brushes against his face with each step taken,
painting a faint smile on his face.
TARO, a healthy and determined man in his 20s dressed in full-
body branded exercise clothing is running with celerity. Despite
running with speed, his facial expressions remain neutral as if
totally unfazed by the ten previous miles he has already
accomplished.
The CAMERA pans to a brief MEDIUM CLOSE-UP shot of the man’s
polished, spotless shoes – with the laces tied in a neatly
maneuvered bow. With each step, spots of moisture from the
concrete follow, leaving a sheen of water gracefully trailing
from the shoe. The CAMERA returns to a full body, LONG SHOT of
JOHN as he comes to an abrupt halt whilst approaching the main
road sat before him.
As TARO’S pace slackens, he stands straight, stretching to
relieve his body tension. Whilst waiting, he is repeatedly
glancing at each side of the road, breathing heavily – waiting
for a gap in the traffic to allow him to carry on his journey.
The CAMERA reduces into an EXTREME WIDE SHOT on the opposing side
of the road, with the incoming traffic obstructing the view of
the man. Despite this, he can be seen through the gaps of the
vehicles, showing a bored and vacant expression.
Whilst glancing to the left, TARO catches the eye of AYA (the
‘most beautiful girl’ he has ever seen). AYA breaks the intense
eye contact, leaving TARO carelessly rubbing his eyes, in an
attempt to reminisce if that moment really occurred. The two are
positioned approximately 50 yards away from each other,
nevertheless AYA begins to take consecutive, confident steps in
the direction of the man.
AYA is walking in her blue tracksuit bottoms and white hoodie
with her hair sat in a neatly rested ponytail. She is a
confident, honest lady who always priorities her own needs and
lets others follow behind.

The CAMERA narrows to a medium shot of the space reducing between
the man and the woman as TARO’S face rapidly lights up. The
CAMERA displays a CLOSE-UP shot of AYA’S mysterious appearance,
then presents a MEDIUM CLOSE-UP shot situated in front of the man
as AYA calmly passes by. A shot of elongated realization of the
present lack of traffic paints his face and hurries he across,
continuing with his run.
Upon reaching his destination at his local café, the CAMERA
focusses on his watch in a close range as he alters the lense to
read the time. The CAMERA remains steady in a LONG SHOT, watching
TARO walk through the door of the building. The surrounding
landscapes of pretty, rustic neighboring buildings can be spotted
either side of the café. The CAMERA moves to a ground level,
CLOSE-UP SHOT of TARO’S feet entering the doorway, with the ring
of a bell as he treads.
KEN is a well-known man in his early 20s, typically clingy
towards TARO and judgey of his acquaintances. He is a proud
English businessman who constantly boasts about his achievements.
He is pleasantly dressed in a clean, black suit.
The CAMERA pans to a WIDE SHOT of KEN, who is rising from his
seat with open arms to welcome him.
KEN
(excitedly) How are you mate? Long time no see! Did
aaaaaaaaaayou see the …
Ken is taken aback by the ghastly expression on Taro’s face. The
CAMERA falls to a LONG SHOT demonstrating TARO’S shocked
expression as he stands blankly. The CAMERA switches to a CLOSE-
UP of KEN’S face, showing his confused countenance with raised
eyebrows and widened eyes.
KEN (CONT’D)
… What’s up? You look like you’ve seen a ghost.
KEN tilts his head slightly to study TARO’S bland body language
in order to communicate his confusion. The CAMERA moves to a LONG
SHOT side view of the men standing vacantly.

How does anyone explain that they are in love with
aaaaaaaiiiitheir best friend’s ex-girlfriend...
The CAMERA shifts to an EXTREME CLOSE UP of TARO’s face,
showcasing his worrying expression. The lights dim slightly as
the sun carries on rising.
