goals.

Elements 1.6.a Students choose the appropriate

platforms and tools for meeting the desired
objectives of their creation or communication.
What is the student learning goal for this lesson idea?
I would like each student to make a sway or presentation with content about a life cycle of an
animal they choose to do it about.

How will this lesson be implemented? Check all that apply.

☐ Teacher-directed: There is no student voice and choice in the activities. Students are guided by the
teacher's direction and expectations.

☐ Student-Led: Students are given voice and choice in the activities. They may select the topic for
presentation and/or determine the tool they will use to meet the learning goal. Products of
learning will be uniquely designed. Teacher simply facilitates the learning in a lesson like this.

☐ Project-based and/or Publishable: Students are completing projects to demonstrate their learning
and the projects can be shared outside of the classroom. This objective could be reached by
displaying the project on the school’s morning newscast, posting the project to the classroom
blog, presenting it to another class, or publishing it via an outside source.

Lesson Idea

I think that for the start of the lesson could be introduced with asking students what they
know about different animals’ life cycle. Then I could present mine to the class and show
mine as an example. Then from there they can draw pictures and upload them or find them
on the internet. Then at the end of the week I want students to show us their presentations
and then we as a class will write down notes about the student’s presentations to keep track
of what we learn.
Managing the technology/engagement: Describe a way to use this technology in a way that
gets students actively involved in authentic tasks and contexts? How will you manage the
classroom behaviors on the technology:
For the first 5 min. I will have students tell me what they already know. Then my presentation
should take max 10 min. Have students’ discussion what they learned after and then have
students write what they learned about in my presentation. Then have students pick an
animal they would like to do their presentation on (5 min.). Then Students will start to outline
and research on the animal and then presentation. (30 min.) Then at the end of the week
share.

Universal Design for Learning (UDL):

This tool that I used supports all students. It shows pictures for students that might speak a
different language, it has audio for students that might not be able to look at the pictures.
This supports the UDL as Engagement because this lets all students be engaged with the
presentation and will help them understand this topic.
Reflecting on enhanced learning:
After showing the students this lesson, I think they will be able to understand the life cycle of
a butterfly. This will help students with understanding other animals’ life cycles because the
butterfly’s life cycle is a little more complicated than other animals. They will also be able to
understand how to use different technology resources that they can use in the future.
