PREAMBLE

LSSTI Campus journalism gives students journalists the opportunity to practice their
craft and share their thoughts and insights about certain issues, there are other reasons
why it is important.
The campus journalism Act of 1999 is an act providing for the development and
promotion of campus journalism in all levels of education.

ARCTILCE I: CLUB NAME

The name of the club shall be known as Lanao School of Science and Technology, Inc.,
Working Sunrise Chronicles, hereafter referred to as the LSC.

Informing their fellow students about campus events, serving as a check on their
school’s uncovering stories that outside media might miss.
This school paper publication will contribute to the emergence of a new breed of
journalists and for them to appreciate the pivotal role of communication in the school
campus. May it help impart knowledge and useful insights to all the students towards
achieving our goal of instilling our novice journalists the value of communicating using
the national and international standards of journalistic guidelines.

ARCTILCE II: OBJECTIVES

THE LSSTI SUNRISE CHRONICLES was created for the reasons:


 To uphold the freedom of the press at the campus level.
 To promote the development and growth of campus journalism as a means of
strengthening ethical values, encouraging critical thinking, and developing moral
character and personal discipline of the LSSTI students.
 To provide all students in the campus with the information they need to make the
best possible decisions about their lives, their communities, their societies and
their school government.

ARTICLE III. MEMBERSHIP

Section 1. Application for membership into the LSC is open to any student currently
enrolled Lanao School of Science and Technology Inc.
Section 2. Any member may be dismissed from the LSC because of misconduct, failure
to meet his responsibilities to the club, or for being absent from more than 5 meetings
and/or activities. An acceptable excuse must be furnished to the secretary for an
absence.

Section 3: Every student who desires to become a member of the organization should
fill out the registration form, such as News Writing, Editorial Writing, Feature Writing,
Sports Writing, Photo Journalism, Layout and Page Design and to be conducted by the
LSC adviser.

ARTICLE IV. MEETINGS/ COMMITTEES

Section 1. The officers shall conduct a regular monthly meeting, every last Thursday
of the month together with the Club Coordinator and Club Adviser.

Section 2. The members shall conduct a regular monthly meeting, every last Friday of
the month.

Section 3. The LSC President may call an emergency meeting when necessary.

Section 4. The members must submit an excuse letter stating a valid reason for
failing to attend the meeting. This should be signed by proper signatories. The letter
should be signed by the President and should be approved by the Club
Coordinator/Director.

Section 5. Failure to submit an excuse letter for: a. two (2) consecutive meetings will
be charged Php 100; b. three (3) consecutive meetings will be charged Php 150. c.
four (4) consecutive meetings will be charged to pay Php 200. Payments will be
collected by the LSC. Secretary.
Section 6. Minutes and attendance will be taken during all meetings.

Section 7. Minutes will be submitted to the club adviser/coordinator at the end of the
school year.

ARTICLE V. OFFICERS

Section 1. The staff of this club shall be Editor-in Chief, Assistant Editor, Managing
Editor, Design Editor, Photo Editor Copy, Editor News Editor, Feature Editor Opinion,
Editor Sports Editor.

Section 2. Officers will be elected for one year by a vote of the club at the beginning of
each term year.

Section 3. Officers must be currently enrolled student in Lanao School of Science and
Technology Incorporated and are current on annual dues.

Section 4. Officers cannot miss more than one meeting per quarter.

ARTICLE VI. OFFICERS DUTIES

Section 1. Editor-in Chief- is the highest-ranking member of the editorial team at a


publication. - They manage the team of writers and editors, determine the look and feel
of the publication, and decide what to publish and oversee the publication's operations
and policies, and he/she is responsible for leading the club in meetings and activities in
accordance with guidance established by the Lanao School of Science and Technology
Inc. administrators and these bylaws.

Section 2. Assistant Editor - responsible for supporting the editor-in-chief or editor-at-
large of a newspaper, magazine, radio program or website, and shall assist the Editor-in
Chief in club management, shall preside over club meetings in the absence of the Editor-
in Chief, and shall perform other duties assigned by the president.

Section 3. Managing Editor - creates content strategies and oversees their


implementation processes. Their main duties include managing a team of writers,
editors and graphic designers, monitoring the results of various content campaigns and
editing content pieces to ensure they follow tone and style guides.

Section 4. Design Editor – is responsible for assigning stories to journalists, reviewing,


and editing content, and ensuring that the newsroom operates smoothly and efficiently.

Section 5. Photo Editor Copy – someone who checks written content for proper
grammar and spelling and ensures that all relevant vocabulary is used according to
subject matter guidelines.

Section 6. Editor News Editor – is someone curates and reviews content by other
journalists to be published online, in newspapers or other forms of print media. Their job
duties including editing, proofreading, reaching out to journalists for stories, organizing
a team of writers and possibly creating their own original content.

Section 7. Feature Editor Opinion - is journalism that makes no claim of objectivity.


Although distinguished from advocacy journalism in several ways, both forms feature a
subjective viewpoint, usually with some social or political purpose.

Section 8. Editor Sports Editor - is responsible for assigning and editing stories about
sports and athletes.

ARTICLE VII. ELECTION

Section 1. Election of Officers

1.1.Election of officers shall be done on the second month of the first semester.

1.2.Students who sought to become members of the organization should abide


the guidelines of election and meet the requirements stipulated in the
constitution and bylaws.

1.3. Election may be done by the members of the LSSTI -SC during the first
meeting in the first semester.

Section 2. Impeachment of officer is conducted when he/she:

2.1. Failing in at least one of his/her subjects.

2.2. Not responsible in his/her duties.

2.3. Guilty of any illegal action.

2.4. Committed any major offense stipulated in the student’s handbook.

Section 4. In the case of a vacancy of any other position, the LSC Editor-in Chief may
appoint an interim member from the members of the club to serve until the vacancy is
filled based on the results gathered during the election. The Editor-in Chief shall carry
out a minimum two (2) weeks advertised search to fill the open seat, which is open to
all eligible members of the student body with further deliberation and approval of
LSSTI -SC officers and the Club Coordinator and Club Adviser. After the search is
completed, the interim member, if they served on the LSC prior to their appointment,
will return to their respective seat.

Section 5. After either dismissal by the council or official receipt of the resignation, the
LSSTI -SC shall select a successor from among the students. The LSC Editor-in Chief
shall make the appointment. The appointee must meet all membership qualifications
for the vacant position. This candidate must be confirmed by a simple majority vote of
the members of the LSC and further deliberation and approval of the Club
Coordinator/Director and Club Adviser.

Section 6. No member of the LSC shall hold more than one elected LSC office at any
time.

Section 7. Members appointed to any position on the LSC before the election shall
serve until the next regularly scheduled election. Members appointed after the election
shall serve the remainder of the term.

Section 8. All members serving on the LSC shall not miss more than three meetings
without approval by the Club Adviser and Club Coordinator/Director. If a member has
missed more than three meetings, the LSC shall have the ability to declare the seat
vacant and appoint a new member who shall serve until the next election.

ARTICLE VIII: FUNDS

Section 1. The main source of funds for the LSC will be anchored to the Club Fee
collected by the institution. Registration fees, club member’s uniforms and budgets
during competition shall be subject to approval by the school administrator.

ARTICLE XI. ADVISOR

Section 1. Appointment. There shall be a faculty/staff who shall be appointed as the


adviser of the said club.
Section 2. Duties. The responsibilities of the faculty adviser shall be to:
a. Facilitate programs sponsored by the student club, or even inter-school
contests.

b. Encourage the members to join contest inside and outside the school.

c. Meet on a regular basis with the leader of the student club to discuss upcoming
meetings, goals, and problems of the club.

d. Attend regular meetings, executive board meetings, as often as schedule


allows.
e. Explain and clarify campus policy aid procedures that apply to the club.

ARTICLE X COACH / INSTRUCTOR

Section 1: The Club Coordinator or the Club Adviser shall appoint instructor who can
see the potential of every member on this club based on their expertise on the club
events.
Section 3: Club Adviser and appointed instructor will be responsible in identifying
student who passed the tryouts and become official member of the LSC.

ARTICLE X1: AMENDMENTS / RATIFICATIONS

Section 1. Any member of the LSSTI -SC may offer, in writing, a proposed
amendment to the organization’s constitution and bylaws five (3-5) days before the
next regular meeting. Copies of the proposed amendment will be given to the LSC
Editor-in Chief Assistant, Editor Managing Editor.

Section 2. All proposed amendments must receive a two-thirds majority of the LSC at-
large on the next meeting of business. Amendments, once approved by the LSC, shall
be advertised and then brought before the entire student body. Amendments
approved by the Working LSSTI SUNRISE CHRONICLES shall require a two- thirds
majority vote by the voting student body to be ratified.

Section 3. Revisions of the LSSTI SUNRISE CHRONICLES constitution shall be


proposed in the same fashion as amendments.
