Justification OF POPULATION

As the years go by, humanity's history continues to evolve, and a lot has
changed within the years of human development. Starting with the discovery
of fire, which paves the way and acts as the key to new inventions,
discoveries, innovations and understanding on different aspects that reside in
this world. They then served as the cornerstone for the development of
human society. There have been many periods that occurred in human
society, and each one affected the other in a way that brought them united
and distinct, thus creating a diverse culture and way of living. In different
places, some structures and infrastructures provide for and benefit people.
They are one of the building blocks of the progress of society and reflect and
portray mostly the people that inhabit there. Tackling this kind of concern
connects it with the commonly known industry.

The construction industry tackles the industrial branch of manufacturing and

trade related to building, repairing, renovating, and maintaining
infrastructures. It is a determinant of the country's advancement, often
regulating the growth of the country's infrastructural development in terms
of sustainability assurance (Hussain et al., 2022). In this industry, the
production of various tools, materials, and equipment in the construction
sector depends heavily on raw resources. Also, the demand for raw goods is
extremely high, which requires the producer to strive to get the needed
resources.

Since 1970, the global economy has consumed four times as much material
as the world's population, which has increased by only half. Consumption has
increased by more than 8% during the past two years, yet resource reuse has
decreased from 9.1% to 8.6% (Carrington, 2021). Based on the data gathered
from The World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF), that the current
overexploitation of natural resources is generating a massive deficit, as 20%
more than can be regenerated is consumed each year and this percentage is
growing steadily (Iberdrola, n.d.). These implications about the current status
of the environment need to be tackled as soon as possible. Natural resources
being overused is not only disadvantageous but also dangerous for the
further growth of the society, due to this, making proper adjustments and
solutions is crucial for society.

The improper waste management experienced throughout the world raises

concerns that need to be addressed to stop further consequences it causes.
In the Republic Act RA 9003, which is an act providing for an ecological solid
waste management program, creating the necessary institutional
mechanisms and incentives, declaring certain acts prohibited and providing
penalties, appropriating funds therefor, and for other purposes (Republic Act
No. 9003 | GOVPH, 2001). This led the researchers to an idea about utilizing
the use of agricultural waste and recycled materials for the production of an
industrial product. It could help reduce the number of waste and contribute
to a circular economy and help create a new market for these materials
which could help support the economic development of communities and
regions that rely on agriculture.

The study mainly focuses on making an innovative Particle board that is

commonly used within households. Particle board refers to a composite
panel product that consists of cellulosic particles of various sizes that are
bonded together with a synthetic resin or binder under heat and pressure.
Particle boards have remarkable machining characteristics, which is
significant when post-forming high-pressure laminate countertops. Particle
board is used extensively in residential kitchens, playing a role in cabinets,
shelving, countertops, and floor underlayment (Composite Panel Association,
2021). This kind of innovation may help lessen the overuse of raw materials
and achieve a sustainable resource alternative to the current one being used.

That is the reason why the researchers considered creating a composite

Particle board made from Coconut Husk, Rice Husk, and Used Paper. Success
in this study will tackle industry, innovation and infrastructure, and
sustainable cities and communities. Also, it will provide information about a
new, eco-friendly material that can be used in construction applications. This
information could help professionals make informed decisions about material
selection, which can lead to the development of more sustainable and eco-
friendly buildings.
