PROCEDURE: PLATE NO.

PL 01
1. Open your AutoCad program. LINES and TEXTS
2. Select from the options; click start a drawing from scratch, set drawing units to metric, and click OK.
3. Set the drawing limits:
Command: type LIMITS then press enter
Lower Left corner: type 0,0 then press enter (the lower left corner is at the origin)
Upper right corner: type 330,210 then press enter (the coordinates of the upper right corner.
4. Switch off all of the drawing aids (snap, grid, ortho, polar, osnap, otrack, & lwt) except model. This will make easy selection of points without
confusion. A single left click will switch these drawing aids on/off.
5. Right click on GRID to fix settings: x=10 and y=10. Switch on Grid to display the grid dots on the drafting space.
6. Type zoom + enter then All + enter , to view the entire drafting space of your limits.
7. Draw the border lines starting from A to B to C to D back to A, then the line from J to K, and then the line L to M.
Command: type LIne then press enter (observe the inquiry on your command line)
specify first point: type 20,10 then press enter
specify next point or (Undo): type 320,10 + enter
specify next point or (Undo): type 320,200 + enter
specify next point or (Close/Undo): type 20,200 + enter
specify next point or (Close/Undo): type C + enter or type 20,10 + enter to close the border lines.
Press ESC to terminate the Line command.
Press enter to resume a previous command ( resume the Line command in this case).
(Use the above procedure to draw the three figures on this plate, alter the coordinates applicable for the coordinate system )
8. Draw the division lines of the drafting space, using the command for line, using any of the coordinate systems.
9. Type all the texts on this plate using Mtext command. Explore on the use of the Mtext(multiline text) command. Use Move command to
reposition the text in its more appropriate area.
Command: type Mtext then press enter
select window for area to type the text
type the text then highlight the text for changes in text font and text height
press OK to finalize the text entry into your drawing.
To edit text: click on Modify from the pull down menu, then click object, then click text, then click edit, then click on the text to be edited.
Note: Always read the command line after typing a command or selecting a point/object before entering the next command or selection of a
point or object. You communicate with the computer by typing a command/information using the keyboard or left/right button click on the
mouse. You can read all of these in the command line. The command line is a dialog box displayed at the lower left side on your screen.
10. Save your accomplished work in your computer and in a memory stick with file name format: PL01EnggCADnnPQR. Type your seat
number instead of nn and your initials instead of PQR.
Large text: letter height = 3.8
Medium text: letter height = 3
Small text: letter height = 2.4
