TRAINING ACTIVITY DESIGN

I. Title of Activity: COVID-19 vaccine Information Drive for Children

Schedule / Venue: March 28-31, 2022 (Venue to be coordinated with RHU-Calape)

II. Rationale

In response to the ongoing pandemic in the country, Philippines has now providing COVID-19 vaccination program to
fight against severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) which started last March 1, 2021. The
Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has issued emergency use authorizations (EUA) to the Oxford–AstraZeneca and
Sinovac COVID-19 vaccines which are already deployed in the entire country.

But despite of the government’s effort on intensifying information drive through social and traditional media platforms to
persuade Filipinos to get vaccinated against COVID-19, some people are still hesitant and are not convinced to be
vaccinated. There are different factors and influences why people do not want to be vaccinated. Reasons are their
concern for the safety of the vaccines, doubt about its efficacy, and due to the dengvaxia controversy where 106
children died after being given with the vaccine.

As prime mover on health and advocates for health promotion and prevention, the Health and Allied Services
Department will extend its services to the community of San Isidro where the school is situated to support the
government in their pursuit of strengthening the nationwide campaign on information dissemination on COVID-19
vaccine and that the vaccine guarantees protection for all Filipinos. Its purpose is to deliver to the Filipinos the
message that the vaccination program can save lives and revive hopes.

This proposed activity/program will be conducted to answer the request made by the Barangay officials in the
municipality of Calape to have partnership in information dissemination campaign about the vaccine to the community.
Filipinos are encouraged by the Philippine government to be vaccinated to provide protection once a person is infected
with the actual disease-causing virus or bacteria. With this activity, it can help the people to have knowledge on
benefits that they can get from the vaccine and gain trust from the government.

III. Objectives
At the end of this activity, the target audience will gain knowledge and increase their awareness about the COVID-19
vaccine and will be able to meet the following specific objectives:
1. Acquire understanding about the vaccine.
2. Value health not just for oneself but also health for all Filipinos.
3. Share his/her learning to other people who have doubts or undecided to be vaccinated.
4. Observe and apply precautionary measures for the entire duration of the activity.
