G20: The world's premier forum for international economic cooperation

The Group of Twenty (G20) is the premier forum for international economic
cooperation. It comprises 19 countries and the European Union, which
together account for more than 80% of global GDP, 75% of global trade, and
60% of the world's population.

The G20 was formed in 1999 in response to the Asian financial crisis. The
goal was to create a forum where the world's leading economies could come
together to discuss and coordinate their economic policies. The G20 has
since become the most important forum for global economic cooperation, and
it has played a key role in addressing a range of global economic challenges,
including the global financial crisis of 2008-2009, the COVID-19 pandemic,
and the current food and energy crisis.

The G20 meets annually at the leader level, with the heads of state or
government of member countries in attendance. The G20 also meets
regularly at the ministerial and working group levels. The G20's agenda is
broad and covers a wide range of economic issues, including global economic
growth, financial stability, trade and investment, development, and climate
change.

India is currently holding the Presidency of the G20 for the year 2022-2023.
India's G20 Presidency is focused on the theme of "Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam"
or "One Earth One Family One Future." This theme reflects India's belief in
the need for global cooperation to address the challenges facing the world
today.

The G20 plays an important role in shaping and strengthening the global
economic architecture. It is a forum where the world's leading economies can
come together to discuss and coordinate their economic policies, and to work
together to address global economic challenges.

Here are some of the key achievements of the G20:

● Global financial crisis: The G20 played a key role in responding to the
global financial crisis of 2008-2009. The G20 leaders coordinated their
fiscal and monetary policies to stimulate economic growth and prevent
a global recession.
● COVID-19 pandemic: The G20 has played a leading role in responding
to the COVID-19 pandemic. The G20 leaders have committed to
providing financial support to developing countries and to working
together to develop and distribute vaccines and treatments.
● Food and energy crisis: The G20 is currently working to address the
global food and energy crisis. The G20 leaders have committed to
taking steps to ensure the flow of food and energy to developing
countries and to work together to stabilize global markets.

The G20 is an important forum for international economic cooperation. It is a

forum where the world's leading economies can come together to discuss and
coordinate their economic policies, and to work together to address global
economic challenges. India's G20 Presidency is an opportunity for India to
play a leading role in shaping the global economic agenda and to promote its
vision of a more inclusive and sustainable global economy.
