2 Verify Prerequisites
2.1 Verify software requirements
It is recommended to install always the latest service pack of the selected SQL Server engine.
Netspan verifies the SQL version during installation and checks for the minimum supported version.

Note: Netspan server should be installed on a dedicated server machine. The

configuration where Netspan shares the database on the Netspan Server with
another application is not supported.

Note: Netspan requires an English version of the Operating System (OS),

keyboard and SQL Server.

Caution: The user is responsible for checking the Microsoft web site for later
service packs and hot fixes.

2.2 Netspan Pre-requisite Installation Order

1. Install Software Environment (i.e. OS with all latest service packs).
2. Install IIS if not installed.
3. Install .NET Framework if not installed for all OS other than Windows Server 2008 64 bit.
(.NET 4.0 client profile already installed as part of the OS).
4. Install SQL Server.

Note: When performing a clean installation of Netspan on a machine that has

never had Netspan installed before it is imperative to install the pre-requisites in
the correct order.
