System Logging
1. Verify that the rsyslogd daemon is running
2. View the rules regarding mail log files
3. Add a new rule to the /etc/rsyslog.conf file, which will cause all mail error messages to
be written to a new file: /var/log/mail.errors
4. Generate a mail error message to test the rule that you added to the configuration file
5. Verify that the /var/log/mail.errors file contains the new message
6. View the most recent entries to the journal and print new entries as they are added
7. delete old systemd journal data older than 7 days
Email Configuration
1. View the existing mail aliases file
2. Create new user
3. Add an alias for alterego aliases file so that messages sent to alterego will be forwarded
to the “created_user” user
4. Rebuild the aliases database
5. Test the alias by emailing the /etc/aliases file to alterego.
6. Start the postfix service and verify it is running
7. View the mail spool file for the “created_user” user to see if it contains the message
