Preface
Thanks for Your Honored Company choosing our products. Regarding belt drive ICS low
noise Centrifugal cabinet fan, please carefully read this publication prior to any
installation or maintenance procedure. This will help you to avoid any destroy due to
improper storage, installation, operation and maintenance; and guarantee the fan
operated safely and efficiently as well.

Installation, operation and maintenance of the fan shall be conducted by technicians.

Attention:
1. Upon receipt of the equipment, carefully inspect the fan and accessories for any
damage and shortage and report it immediately to the supplier.
2. The equipment shall be stored at jobsite strictly according to “INFINAIR Storage
Guidelines”, avoid any trampling or striking, otherwise it will damage the equipment
and will result in the invalidation of warranty.
3. This unit has rotating parts. The installation, operation and maintenance shall be
operated by maintenance personnel. Always disconnect power prior to working on
fan.

1.Product Storage Guidelines

If INFINAIR fans shall be stored for a period of time due to site factors not for immediate
installation, follow the instructions below:

1.1 All INFINAIR fans and accessories shall be stored indoor with their original
shipping packages.

1.2 Store the fans and accessories in dry, clean and without any corrosive air place to
keep shaft, bearings and fan housing from dust, debris and corrosion.

1.3 If the fan is stored in a temporary place without any drainage facilities, the whole
unit shall be blocked up at least 10cm high.

1.4 Stacking for storage shall not exceed the stack limit label on the outside package.

1.5 The outside machined surface of metal spare parts needs periodically checking
and greasing to avoid surface rusting.

1.6 In normal conditions, rotate the wheel several revolutions every three months to
keep a coating of grease on all internal bearing parts and keep the balance of the wheel
and the rotor. When it is stored in dirt and moisture conditions, rotate the wheel every
month.

1.7 Grease the bearings periodically and keep a record.

WARNING

Damages caused by incorrect storage will result in the invalidation of warranty.

2.Installation Guidelines

2.1 Move the fan to the desired position, lift the fan by the shipping crate or pallet.
Never lift by the shaft , motor or fan housing.

2.2 Remove outside packing. The fan shall be set horizontally on the ground.

2.3 Select installation methods according to design requirements, base mount or


ceiling hung.

2.4 When base mount, the fan basement can directly connect with foundation by
vibration isolators.

2.5 Check the positions of access door, inlet, discharge and the motor to ensure
enough maintenance space.

2.6 Either base mount or ceiling hung shall have vibration isolators to isolate fan and
base.

2.7 Make sure the length of inlet and outlet straight duct is at least 2.5 times of the
wheel diameter when ducts required, to ensure fan performance without sudden
reduction or expansion of ducts

2.8 Fan inlet and outlet shall be flexibly connected to duct system using canvas or
rubber.

2.9 Access doors are specialized for maintenance, prohibited to be drilled holes on it
to fix any accessory.

2.10 All wirings shall go through the internal conduit of the fan as indication label. It is
prohibited to drill holes on fan housing for wiring.

2.11 Wirings and layout shall conform to relevant local and national standards and
codes.

5.Pre-start Checks

5.1 Lock out all the primary and secondary power sources.

5.2 Ensure the fan and ductwork are clean and free of debris.

5.3 Inspect and tighten fasteners and setscrews, particularly fan mounting and
bearing fasteners. Movement may occur during shipment, and fastening will be
necessary.

5.4 The fan and motor should be electricity grounding.

5.5 Ensure the wheel rotates freely without obviously unbalanced.

5.6 For Belt drive, inspect and ensure the pulley alignment. (See Figure 1)

5.7 For Belt drive, Inspect the belt tension and adjust it as needed. Adjust the motor
plate until proper tension is reached. For proper tension, a deflection of approximately
1/64 of center distance should be obtained by firmly pressing the belt. (See Figure 2)

5.8 Inspect the motor wiring according to the wiring diagram provided with the motor.

5.9 Ensure the of motor overload protector operating effectively.

5.10 Fan shall be restored power after chapter 4 mentioned items are checked by
maintenance personnel.

5.11 Refer to the attached document “Pre-start Check List”

6.Start Up

6.1 Test the insulated resistance of phase to phase and phase to earth using 500 V
megger before connecting to power supply to ensure motor insulation is good.

6.2 Ensure the power supply (voltage, frequency, and current carrying capacity of
wires) is in accordance with the motor nameplate.

6.3 During the first start up, use “press and stop” method to ensure the rotation of the
wheel is the same as indicated by the rotation label.

6.4 For 3-phase motors, if the fan is running in the wrong direction, interchange any
two leads so that the fan is operating in the correct direction. For single-phase motors,
refer to wiring diagram provided with the motor.

Warning: Reversed rotation will overheat the motor and possible burnout.

6.5 Start again, set the fan to designed speed and inspect the following:

6.5.1 Excessive vibration


6.5.2 Unusual noise
6.5.3 Improper operation of bearing, pulley and belt
6.5.4 Improper motor amperage or voltage
6.5.5 If any problem is discovered, immediately shut the fan off and lock out all
electricity power, and check for the cause of the trouble according to items 5.2 to
5.8
6.6 Stop the fan at the first 8 hours, inspect the following:
6.6.1 Inspect bolts, setscrews, and motor mounting bolts. Adjust and tighten as
necessary.
6.6.2 Inspect belt tension and pulley alignment. Adjust and tighten as
necessary.
6.6.3 Inspect shaft and motor temperature. Adjust as necessary.

7.Maintenance

Lock off all power sources before maintenance.

Establish a maintenance schedule for each unit and keep the record.

7.1 belt / pulley

7.1.1 Belts tend to stretch after a period of time. (Once after six months) They
should be checked periodically for wear, alignment and tightness. Wheel
improperly aligned and belts too loose will result in noise, vibration, energy loss
and early scrap.
7.1.2 Shall stop the fan at the first 24 hours running of the belt; adjust belt
tension according to item 5.7
7.1.3 For belt replacement, loosen the motor plate adjustment nuts on L-bolts
far enough to allow removal of the belt by hand. See figure 3
7.1.4 To motor inside cabinet , loose the four bolts at the base of motor, loose
two diagonal screw to adjust belt. See figure 4

7.1.5 For belts replacement, use the same type as supplied with the unit.
7.1.6 When replace multi-belts, replace all the belts at the same time.
7.1.7 Do not force belts on or off. This may cause cords to break, leading to
premature belt failure.
7.1.8 The drives are equipped with taper lock bushing.
7.1.9 When assembling/disassembling and adjusting the pulley alignment, use
a metric inner-hexagon spanner to loosen the fastening screws and move into
the disassembling holes and lock tightly, then the pulley can be taken out and

the drive can be easily moved.
7.1.10 The screw thread of the installation hole is on the belt pulley, the screw
thread of the disassembling hole is on the taper bushing. (See pictures below)

7.2 Motor

7.2.1 Motor maintenance should be cleaned periodically, every six months


under normal conditions or every three months in a dust environment. Cleaning
should be limited to exterior surfaces only. Removing dust buildup on motor
housing ensures proper motor cooling.
7.2.2 Motors supplied with grease fitting should be greased in accordance with
manufacturer’s recommendations
7.2.3 Motors without grease fitting should not be lubricated after installation

7.3 Wheel

7.3.1 Clean the wheel periodically, every six months under normal conditions
or more frequent in a dust environment. Oil and dust may accumulate causing
imbalance, result in noise, vibration, energy loss and early scrap.
7.3.2 All fasteners should be checked for tightness each time maintenance
checks are preformed prior to starting unit.

7.4 Bearing Lubricants

7.4.1 Proper bearing maintenance is most critical for bearing life.


7.4.2 The INFINAIR fan mainly use roller bearing units with seats (see below
picture), equipped with grease fittings which can be extended to fan housing.

7.4.3 Surface cleaning and lubricating periodically, ensure cooling and


operating in good condition.
7.4.4 A high quality lithium based grease conforming to NLGI Grade 2
consistency, such as those listed below, should be used.
Exxon: Polyrex EM Shell: Alvanin RL2
Remark: A NLGI grade 2 grease is a light viscosity, low-torque, rust-inhibiting
lubricant that is water resistant. Its temperature range is from -20 Deg C~110
Deg C, grade 2 consistency.
7.4.5 Lubricating when the shaft is rotating, shut down the power sources and
slightly move the fan manually.
7.4.6 Use a hand-operated grease gun and pump grease in slowly until a slight
bead forms around the bearing seals.
7.4.7 The lubrication should be 1/3 to 1/2 capacity of bearing seat.
7.4.8 Lubrication frequency should according to the load, rotation speed, dust
and temperature, the following chart is a lubrication schedule recommended
under normal conditions.

7.4.9 Units operated in a temperature exceeding 70℃ or dustenvironm ent, the


bearings lubrication period shall be shorter.
7.4.10 Other types of grease shall not be used if one type of grease is already
selected, otherwise it will lead to premature bearing scrap.

7.5 During maintenance, fan operation shall be controlled by maintenance personnel.

7.6 Each time after maintenance, check the fan according to “pre-check” in chapter 4.

9.Warranty

Shanghai Nautilus General Equipment Manufacturing Co., Ltd. warrants the


“INFINAIR®” brand products manufactured by us to be free of defects in material and
workmanship for a period of 18 months since the ex-works date. Should any products
which prove defective during the warranty period, the parts will be replaced or repaired
at our option (exclude belt and filter types of consumable). We are not responsible for
any other cost or lost.

LIMITATIONS AND EXCLUSIONS

The warranty provided herein shall be void and of no effect in event that

9.1 The product has been operated outside the contract defined condition (including,
but not limited to Temperature, corrosive air or media, contaminants, power supply,
system resistance).

9.2 The product has been damaged due to improper operation in violation against
The Nautilus Company’s Installation, Operation and Maintenance Manuals including
but not limited to: rudely hoisting or installation, parts were removed or improperly
replaced, incorrect maintenance, jobsite accident, missing motor thermal protection, or
long-term reversed rotation direction.

9.3 Unauthorized disassembly or alteration made to the product.

9.4 The serial number of the product has been altered or removed or is incorrect.

9.5 Force Majeure.

NOTE: Each fan bears a manufacturer’s nameplate with model number and serial
number embossed. This information will assist the INFINAIR representative and
the factory in providing service and replacement parts.

Attachment:
Pre-start.Check List

After the fan installation, all the below items should be checked by
maintenance personnel before the fan could be restored power.

1. Ensure the fan and ductwork are clean and no tools and other objects left.
