ABES WARRIORS

UPSETS KALAYAAN

ABES Warriors came away victorious after taking down the host Kalayaan in
their friendly game match, 25 : 18 / 25 : 22 it was held at Epifanio Delos Santos
Elementary School ( EDSES ) on March 5, 2023.

Angelou Galano top scored in their team’s huge producing 18 points coming from
9 attacks, 5 blocks, and 4 ace while the De Jesus – Licayan duo also became a
problem to Kalayaan as they registered a total of 28 markers.

Kalayaan was able to chase when they tried at 18 all but the ABES Warriors
morale increased when De Jesus' sharp service came in and gave the gawk point with a
score of 18 : 20 the ABES finally won at a score of 25 : 18 against Kalayaan.

“Nothing is impossible if you believe in yourself, it's better if you improve rather
than give up just keep practicing when you get the hang of it. Nothing is impossible if
you believe” that’s what Coach Erwin Macarandang said.

IN TRACK AND FIELD

Athletes Miyaka A. Molina and Richard Daniel M. DelaRoca won the gold medal after
competing in Division Palaro 2023 Track and Field , held at Pasig – Rizal High School
on March 11, 2023.

Richard Daniel DelaRoca won two gold after participating in long jump ( 800 meter run )
and triple jump while Miyaka A. Molina also got a gold medal in 800 meter dash. They
went through grueling to reach this point and also went through many trials but will not
give up to reach what they want to achieve.

The athletes brought honor to their school after competing in the track and field event.
Said their coach, “ A lot of training took place but it yielded good results. All you need is
hard work and perseverance to achieve what you want to achieve. As they say, ‘
practice makes perfect.

ABES learners get interventions


ABES learners have undergone an interventions through remediation, which started
in Febuary 2023 and storytelling, that kicked off its 2nd year of implementation in
November, 2021 initiated by Project HANDS (Help Abes readers Nurture and Develop
their Self-reading habit) to improve further the comprehension and reading levels of
the learners .

Project HANDS is a school-based implementation of DepEd Brigada Pagbasa, which


aims to improve learners’ comprehension and reading levels with the help of
volunteer storytellers, volunteer remedial tutors, and book donors.

The story tellers and book donors were ABES Alumni while remedial tutors were
Adventist first year college students . The said project is headed by Ms. Maybelle
Salanio , the school principal , and Ms. Josephine Daclan as the project focal person.

ABES creates and implements Project HANDS based on Brigada Pagbasa , an after-
school reading remediation program in response to the call of the Department to
intensify advocacy for reading consistent with the DepEd Memorandum
No.173,s.2019 , "Hamon: Bawat Bata Bumabasa (3B's initiative)".

ABES joins Nationwide Earthquake Drill

In accordance with RA 10121 also known as "The Philippine Disaster Risk


Reduction
Management" (DRRM), Andres Bonifacio Elementry School (ABES) consistently
participated in the conduct of 1st Quarter Nationwide Simultaneos Earthquake Drills.

On March 9, 2023, ABES, led by the school principal, Ms. Maybelle Salanio and the School
Disaster Risk
Management Focal Person, Mr. Ernesto V. Mendijar Jr., led the conduct of the 1st Quarter
Nationwide Simultaneos Earthquake Drill.

All teaching and non-teaching personnel, learners, front runners, and school guards actively
participated on the said activity. They all performed the DUCK, COVER, and HOLD, and
evacuated to their designated assembly area in school.

DepEd Order No. 53 mandates that school quake drill should be a part of contigency plan
which is
simultaneously done along with all the public schools in Metro Manila.

The quake drill is a government joint effort to promote disaster preparedness. This allows
the students to be reminded to observe the steps or protocols during an earthquake
