DUBAI RESIDENCY TRAINING PROGRAM (DRTP) - 2023 INTAKE

Medical Education & Research Department (MERD) is pleased to announce the commencement of DRTP registration processes for
Medical Graduates:

Eligibility Criteria
 Applicants must be graduates from Medical schools listed with WHO (https://search.wdoms.org/).
 A recognized Internship Program of minimum one-year duration, subject to it being succeeding the Bachelor’s Degree, without any
abruption in the duration.
 Duration since Bachelors & Internship until application to DRTP to not exceed 5 & 4 years respectively.
 English language Proficiency Certificate (TOEFL= 550 or above / IELTS Academic = 6 or above/ OET= 300 (C+)).
 Non-nationals are required be on Residence visa, holding a valid Emirates ID.
 Attestation of Medical Degree & Internship Certificates for those issued outside UAE is to be undertaken from:
- UAE Embassy of the issuing country.
- Ministry of Foreign Affairs in UAE.
- Certificate of Equivalence from Ministry of Education UAE (MOE).
 Primary Source Verification (PSV) Report for all certificates.
 Successfully passing the Emirates Medical Residency Entrance Examination (EMREE) for medical and Emirates Dental Residency
Entrance Examination (EDREE) for dental conducted by College of Medicine & Health Sciences (CMHS) at UAE University, Al Ain
– UAE, prior to initiating application with DRTP. (The only exam accepted to apply for Residency in UAE, For more details, please

 Candidates should not have been out of clinical practice for more than 12 months at any point (Excluding the national service for
locals or interruption due to Covid-19)
 Recognized Bachelor Dental Degree (BDS/DDS) of minimum 5 years duration. - One-year internship training or equivalent from a
recognized Training Institution

Registration & Acceptance Process

• Priority for UAE Nationals in all specialties.
• EMREE – EDREE exam result and GPA will be a part of registration and acceptance criteria.
• Obtaining a high score in Multiple Mini Interviews (MMI) and Specialty Interview are essential factor for shortlisting process
• Some specialties may be offered to Non - UAE Nationals as a second choice in line with criteria ascertained by the evaluation
committee.
