Gravity Attraction

Q:
Suppose we have a spaceship travelling beyond our solar system,
vertically to the orbital plane and it has passed the earth's
atmosphear. When it accelerates the astronauts are attracted to the
opposite direction. But what happens when it stops accelerating ? Will
the astronauts be still attracted by the earth's gravity to the bottom
of their ship or they will feel the total loss of weight ?

A:
When the rocket engines shut off, there will
be uniform deceleration of everything aboard the
spaceship including astronauts, floors, and the
spaceship itself. The astronauts feel weightless
because they aren't pressing down on anything.
Earth's gravity only makes the spaceship slow
down a bit as it escapes farther and farther away
from Earth (assuming the ship achieved escape
velocity or it will fall back to Earth).
