A film director, as the name suggests directs film making, controls the level of drama and artistics, and
visualizes the screenplay. The director guides film actors and the technical crew according to his vision of
screenplay. Directors need to be able to execute creative visions within the boundaries of the film's
budget.

For a particular scene or movie, the director plays an important role in selecting the actors, production
designers, and the film’s creative aspects. The European Union (EU) law views director as the film’s
author.

There are many ways in which you can become a film director. Some film directors started as actors,
cinematographers, film editors, and screenwriters, while others have attended a film school. Many
directors are known for their different approaches. Some directors control every aspect and instruct the
actors and crew to follow them precisely, while others outline a general plot and let the actors to
improvise dialogue. Some directors also gets involved on other aspects of the film such as writing
screenplays, editing the film, appearing in their films, or even composing the music score.

In general, the film director's task is to translate a screenplay into a fully formed film.

The film producer(s) and the studio are sole superiors of the director. The producer’s role differs from the
director, in that producer manages business operations and logistics, whereas the director is tasked with
making creative decisions. The director must work as per the demands of the producer and studio within
the restrictions of the film's budget.
