Ans) Following considerations have been made while deciding the IDL:

3.Why is the IDL not a straight line like the 180° meridian ?
Ans) 1.If IDL had passed through the land part of some country , it
would have led to the confusion of two different dates and days in the
same country.
2.Besides , being an imagery live it would have been difficult to track
when and where exactly the IDL has been crossed.
3.Hence , to avoid the confusion, the IDL was drawn in such a way
that it will pass through only pacific ocean.
