“Transect Walk” (Individual Activity)

Community also means a group of people who live in the same city, town and
neighborhood. Although we live in a village community, some of our neighbors do
have different values and visions about our community. All of the maps are very
similar to a slight distinction between them that make each of them unique. Pondol is
a barangay in the municipality of Balamban, in the province of Cebu. My transect
map has a variety of household complexes, but they are not overcrowded. Which I
reside at, and a mall nearby. I draw the different sitio’s of Pondol along with
barangay hall, daycare center, covered court, church/chapel, elementary school,
bridge, cornfield, open grassland, river, cave and highest peak.I also I nclude our
center church named church of Equi Frili Brium is standing at Pondol. Although
Pondol is predominantly Roman Catholic it caters freely different faiths and religions.
It is even a haven of most faith healers famous in the town among ordinary people. It
is politically subdivided into (10 sitios namely: Katunggan, Old Cem, Sam-ang,
Lamac, Ibo, Tubod, Pundok, Kabitoonan, Bung-aw and Centro). Our barangay has
the advantage of easy accessibility towards poblacion whereby tricycle’s and
“trisikads” are conveniently utilized. In general, Pondol is a highly residential area.
Binghay Residences is among them. It is where Mayor Ace Stefan V. Binghay, Hon.
Dave John B. Karamihan, and their respective families are residing in. Most of the
middle and upper classes of the town are residing in Pondol. On the other hand, the
common people living in the barangay are mostly living on fishing and farming while
most of those who have graduated high school are now working at the shipyards
either at Arpili or at Buanoy Balamban. Barangay Pondol is geographically bounded
on the East by Cansomoroy, West by Tañon Strait, North of Aliwanay/Cambuhawe
and South of Abucayan.
