9 I always pretend that I don’t care, C

7 but my heart would never dare C
11 I’m scared, coz this feeling is getting deeper. D
9 Hoping that you would be the keeper. D

11 I never knew that I would start to like you, E

8 It just started out of the blue. E
8 I always keep myself busy, F
12 but my mind still chose to think about you gladly. F

9 Why did your charm take effects just now? G

9 Since I’ve known you when we were still young, H
12 never knew this emotion just began to sprung. H
9 I wondered why, and I wondered how? G

7 I have always been dreaming, I

7 that you and I have something. I
9 Because this heart is beating for you, E
7 and will only be for you. E

“WISHFUL THINKER”
By: Maurheen Ellyzea S. Panaga

Every time I see you at school,

my heart feels like I’ve run a thousand miles.
Every time our eyes met,
it feels like my heart would come out of my chest

I always pretend that I don’t care,

but my heart would never dare
I’m scared, coz this feeling is getting deeper.
Hoping that you would be the keeper.
I always keep myself busy,
but you’re all I think about every second.

I never knew that I would start to like you,

asking myself, how did this started?
Why did your charm take effects just now?
Since I’ve known you when we where young.

Sometimes, I’m contented with admiring you from afar.

But sometimes, I also want you to notice,
that this heart is beating for you.
And will only be for you.

Meaning: The meaning of this poem is about a teenager hoping that her crush
would someday notice her, telling her feelings to him using a poem.
