Using the Integrative Learning Barometer (ILB)

The Integrative Learning Barometer (ILB) is a web-based learning survey providing

you with an opportunity to feedback and reflect upon your learning and participation
on the module. There is considerable evidence to demonstrate the value and
positive impact of reflection upon student learning and also as a good preparation
for employability in later life. The ILB will contain a free text question that must be
answered along with a number of closed questions that are optional but very helpful
to us in gauging the progress of the module. The results of the ‘closed-ended’
questions will be viewable by all students, but the free text responses will be strictly
confidential. Please answer all questions as honestly as you can.

Please note that the ILB is a requirement for successful completion of the module,
and will account for 15% of your overall mark (5% per survey).

You will be given the opportunity to complete the ILB on 3 separate occasions, and
the surveys will come to you via email. Past experience suggests that it is often in
your best interest to complete each ILB relatively promptly after receiving it. Under
normal circumstances, however, the absolute deadline for completion of each ILB is
2 weeks from the date it was issued. The three surveys will be assessed on the basis
of your reflections on the mentoring experience.

Registering for and completing the ILB surveys

1. Go to the ILB website (www.learningbarometer.com) and register.

2. You will need student ID to register.
3. Provide your University email address on the registration form. Only
University email addresses will be accepted.
4. Await the first ILB survey via email and respond.
5. Surveys will come to you in the days after each mentoring session.
6. Answer each question as honestly as you can.
7. When finished, click on the submit button.
8. Save a copy of each submission for yourself.
