is preparing to send humanitarian relief to Libya after the massive flooding on Sept. 11 that
devastated the eastern part of the country, killed thousands and displaced tens of thousands of
others, a senior minister has announced. Coordinating Human Development and Culture Minister
Muhadjir Effendy said on Friday that the government would send logistical and technical aid to
Libya in response to a request from the North African country.

“We have had diplomatic relations since 1991. We also have a close relationship with the
government of Libya and the Libyan people,” Muhadjir said in a statement on Friday, after a
coordination meeting on the assistance in Jakarta.
