3. ASHLEY HOWE’S ANALYSIS

TOOTH NUMBER : VIOLET

M-D WIDTH : BLACK

MESIODISTAL WIDTH OF MAXILLARY TEETH IN MM

16 15 14 13 12 11 21 22 23 24 25 26

10 6.5 6.5 8 7.5 9 9 7.5 8 6.5 6.5 10

Total tooth material (TTM) : 95 mm

Premolar diameter (PMD) : 40 mm

Premolar basal arch width (PMBAW) : 42 mm

Premolar basal arch width % (PMBAW%) : PMBAW x 100 = 42 × 100 = 44.21%

TTM 95

RESULT 1: PMBAW>PMD (Arch Expansion is possible)

RESULT 2: PMBAW% is 44.21% so, the treatment is in Borderline.

INFERENCE:

PMBAW >PMD =Arch Expansion possible

PMBAW <PMD =Arch Expansion not possible

PMBAW% 37 or < = Need for extraction

PMBAW% 37 - 45 = Borderline case

PMBAW% 45 or > = Treatment by non-extraction

4. PONT’S ANALYSIS
TOOTH NUMBER : VIOLET
M-D WIDTH : BLACK

MESIODISTAL WIDTH OF MAXILLARY TEETH IN MM

15 14 13 12 11 21 22 23 24 25

6 6.5 8 7.5 9 9 7.5 8 6.5 6

Sum of incisors (SI) : 33 mm

Measured premolar value : 35 mm

Measured molar value : 47 mm

Calculated premolar value = SI x 100 = 33 x 100 = 41.25 mm

80 80

Calculated molar value = SI x 100 = 33 x 100 = 51.56 mm

64 64

RESULT:

Calculated value is more than Measured value, indicates need for expansion.

INFERENCE:

Measured value > Calculated value = Indicates no need for expansion.

Measured value < Calculated value = Indicates need for expansion.

5. BOLTON’S ANALYSIS
TOOTH NUMBER : VIOLET

M-D WIDTH : BLACK

MESIODISTAL WIDTH OF MAXILLARY TEETH IN MM

16 15 14 13 12 11 21 22 23 24 25 26

OVERALL TOOTH RATIO:

Sum of Mandibular 12 = 84mm

Sum of Maxillary 12 = 95mm

Total tooth ratio = Sum of Mandibular 12 x 100 = 84 x 100 = 88.42%

Sum of Maxillary 12 95

INFERENCE: Overall ratio is < 91.3% = Maxillary tooth material excess

Amount of maxillay tooth material excess is determined using this formula

= Sum of Maxillary 12 - Sum of Mandibular 12 x 100

91.3

= 95 - 84 x 100 = 95 - 92 = 3 mm
91.3
RESULT:
Amount of maxillary tooth material excess is 3 mm.

INFERENCE:

 Overall ratio < 91.3% = Maxillary tooth material excess

Sum of Maxillary12 - Sum of Mandibular 12 x 100

91.3
 Overall ratio > 91.3% = Mandibular tooth material excess
Sum of Mandibular12 - Sum of Maxillary 12 x 91.3
100

ANTERIOR TOOTH RATIO:

Sum of Mandibular 6 =38 mm

Sum of Maxillary 6 = 49 mm

Anterior tooth ratio = Sum of Mandibular 6 × 100 = 38 x 100 = 77.55%

Sum of Maxillary 6 49

INFERENCE: Anterior tooth ratio is > 77.2 % = Mandibular anterior tooth material
excess

Amount of mandibular anterior tooth material excess is determined using this formula

= Sum of Mandibular 6 - Sum of Maxillary 6 x 77.2

100

= 38 - 49 x 77.2 = 38 – 37.82 = 0.18 mm

100
RESULT:
Amount of mandibular anterior tooth material excess is 0.18 mm.

INFERENCE:

 Anterior ratio < 77.2% = Maxillary anterior tooth material excess

Sum of Maxillary 6 - Sum of Mandibular 6 x 100

77.2
 Anterior ratio > 77.2% = Mandibular anterior tooth material excess

Sum of Mandibular 6 - Sum of Maxillary 6 x 77.2
