What is the significance of learning Mythology and Folklore
as a teacher?
How will your learning in this subject lead you to understand
your responsibility to your learners?

As a future educator, Mythology and Folklore is significant


because this are linked together in academic discourse. In
which the understanding in culture, values, and traditions of
the Filipino people. As stated by folklorists and
anthropologists, Profs. Maximo Ramos and Felipe Landa
Jocano. They argued that knowledge of Mythology has
significant impact to role in the daily lives of Filipinos.

In addition to the above information, the study of Mythology


and Folklore is beneficial to students, and that’s the reason
why we are studying this. With that, it promotes critical
thinking for decision making, and the preservation and
acknowledgement of different culture of the people and
importantly, promoting of reading literacy of
Filipinos, that this reflects the moral values of the society.

To wrap it up all, my learnings in this subject lead me to


deepen my understanding on my responsibility to my
students. By being their role model or a guide for distinction
of what is right and wrong. Because through stories that I
may share to them using Mythology and Folklore, that it is
not just like any other stories that entertain, rather, these can
be their mirror for historical, social, and moral values of our
society that everyone can get a moral values and lessons.
