True Non-Feedback Class A Amplifier with 50 Watts DUAL MONO stages or 118 Watts Monoblocks.

ZAPsolute has beaten any competing amplifier below the price range of 4.000 US$ in several
comparing tests during the last 3 years. In Denmark it got the verdict 'Reference Class' in Norway and
Sweden it has gained winning tests over quite a few much costlier amplifiers. Inspite of it's extreme
high quality, it can be built for around 1500 US$, how is this possible you might ask... Well first of all
you save money by building it as a kit. Labour cost for assembly and adjustment would in a normal
shop-and-use-amplifier be mulitplied by a factor of 10 before reaching the price tag in the hifi shop.
The price you have to pay. So in other words 100 $ in labour cost, means you will have to pay
something close to 1000 $ more for an off the shelf amplifier, compared to building a kit. Further you
purchase our products directly. We never have more than one single layer of dealers from production
site to you. This means our total markup is considerably lower than you would normally find in the
Audio business.

Since ZAPsolute started in 1995 it has been, and continues to evolve, using the latest high
performance audio parts, and new technologies to optimize sound performance. This amplifier is
meant to be our non-compromise platform, so only the best parts are chosen, no matter the cost. This
also means that ZAPsolute is more expensive than most kits you will find on the market. ZAPsolute
does not try to compete on price with these, on the other hand the standard amp kits do not come
anywhere close to competing with the sound quality of ZAPsolute Mk4.1.

Our novelty Virtual 4 pole Capacitor bank is one example. In this bank 10 high speed low impedance
power electrolytic capacitors are connected together to form 2 big caps for the amplifier rails. None of
these caps are connected in parallel, as this would pose problems with current transfer woppling. This
is when several low impedance caps are connected directly in parallel, they tend to compete for the
power. The first cap gets current first, then the next tries to take some of the charge from the first, and
so on. In terms of sound performance, you get a loss of precision in the high frequencies and a cold
midrange at larger power outputs - where the woppling is more severe. One alternative is to use only
large can capacitors. This to some extent also will solve the two problems described, however almost
any large can capacitor will work very slowly, and play with a slow and out-of-beat bass. The V4P
setup however solves both problems! Bass is fast and in sync, while precision in mid and high ranges
are intact at all levels. Due to the special V4P network, power is charged and discharged to each cap
at exactly the same time and rate. At the output of the V4P network no electrolytic caps are present, so
here we found a perfect opportunity to place a huge Polyprop (22uF) which this way will be the only
capacitor the amplifier can 'see' above 1 kHz.

The V4P is one reason the ZAPsolute Mk4.1 can take on soundquality with almost any Class A power
amp in the world, no matter the price tag!

You can purchase ZAPsolute Mk4.1 either as a kit or as a hand assembled ready to play amplifier,
with 3 year warranty. Everything thorougly tested and adjusted to the smallest detail. In the latter case
the price tag for the ZAPsolute Mk4.1 is comparable to what a good amplifier should cost. As a kit
however it is much lower! Two models are available one with 2 Dual Mono channels of 50 Watts RMS
each and another model with 118 Watt RMS mono blocks. At a Watt per Cost ratio this amplifier is not
at all comparable with other normal audio amplifiers, and particularly not our own alternatives
Millennium XP and ZAPpulse. However if you consider the ZAPsolute runs in Pure Class A, i think you
will find the competition in a completely different price range of maybe 3 to 6 times higher. 50 Watts
may not sound like a lot, but taken into consideration the huge power supply of more than 1000 VA, it
can really get the most out of your speakers. It can push current like no other amplifier, and it can play
loud and dynamic!
It will easily drive the most difficult speaker loads, even 1 Ohm continous load is no problem, here the
ZAPsolute 50 W will deliver some 300 Watts of pure undistorted audio energy. RMS! The size of the
power supply that drives this incredible energy is 10 - 12 times bigger than you will normally find in this
range of amplifiers.

For the 118 Watt monoblocks, it is nessecary to use several output power transistors, to reach this
high output power in real Class A. Even taken into consideration, that we use the worlds most powerful
Audio Power Transistor set, the SANKEN 2SA1216 / 2SC2922. It is a known fact that using more than
one output device in parallel will cause massive high order distorsions that will cause harsh midrange
or loss of details. The so called 'Transistor Sound'. Again this problem is solved in the ZAPsolute
Mk4.1 in a unique way. Bass and Mid/high each have their separate set of output terminals, and output
transistors. For the mid/high regions only a smaller amount of current is required, thus it only has one
set of output devices. This maintains the high level of precision and warmth in the voice regions. For
the bass, more power is required, but it doesn't matter if there is some level of high order distorsion, as
the bass units have a signifikant damping of these products that would be found in the region between
7 and 10 kHz. Only a few other brands of amplifiers in the world has taken action to solve this well
known amplifier construction problem, but no other brand has solved it this way. To use the 118 Watt
 Mono Blocks your speakers must be prepared for Bi Wiring in the cross over.

 Short Circuit Protection, no effect on sound quality, butcan shut the amp down in case of overload.
 DC Servor with 2nd order filter, with a corner freq of just 0,5 Hz. Will NOT affect bass, but can be
secluded.
 Vishay Glass substrate resistors with 15dB less distorsion compared to normal SMD resistors.

 No parallel capacitors in entire system ensures clean crisp treble and warm soft and detailled
midrange.
 DC Servo, short circuit and power down functions are integrated in the amplifier board, but can be
disabled or completely removed from the board.

 Mirrored L and R boards integrated with V4P power supply reduces wiring to an absolute minimum.
 Input selector relay, to switch between XLR and RCA plugs. Can be bypassed.
 Indikators for Class A, Powerdown and 'All OK'.

The ZAPsolute Mk4.1 Power Supply:

 Virtual four-pole layout. Fast response with large capacity.
 Current is fed to each capacitor simultanously through a low-inductive Power Resistor.
 Dual Mono, separate power supply circuits, rectifiers etc. for L and R.
 28 A Ultra Fast Soft Recovery rectifiers eliminates rectification noise found in traditional Bridge
Rectifiers.
 Traformers are connected directly to screw terminals on each channel, so cabling is minimized .
 Effective DC filter for mains side, eliminates mechanical transformer hum.
 Soft Start Circuit, keeps the mains fuses alive at startup, with high current surges from the powerful
1060 VA TRansformers.

Enclosure.
ZAPsolute Mk4.1 enclosures are made of first class materials. Top and bottom are made of aluminium
or high intensity structural painted steel. Front plates are made of seawater resistant aluminium with
black or natural anodization. (To your choice). The huge heat sink panels on each side of the
enclosure are made of black anodized aluminium to keep the temperature of the high power output
stages below the CE EN 60065 allowed maximum temperature, 60 degrees C.

Holes are punched for Neutrik XLR plugs and WBT RCA's and speaker terminals. On the rear panel
you will also find switches to select RCA / XLR inputs and to set the mode for power down (Always
Class A / Always PowerDown / Auto).

The front panel has a standard width for audio equipment, 42 cm or 17", depth including plugs 44 cm
or 18", and total height is 16 cm or 6½". Weight of each amplifier or monoblock is just around 20 kg or
42 pounds.
