• Identify different countries’ cultural profiles and characteristics that may cause conflict or
misunderstanding

• Video Presentation must be recorded and securely uploaded to YouTube (or other online video platform)
for moderation purpose. The private link to video must be given to the lecturer during submission.
• Assignment submitted after the deadline will be subject to a penalty.

Description of the Assignment:


You and your team are consultants with knowledge of FOUR countries- Germany, Canada,
Nigeria, and India, and you are advising HQ in the Malaysia about the local practices in these
countries.
You are expecting to send a few managers from Malaysia to these countries and HQ need to
be aware of local culture and practices.
Your team have been requested to prepare a presentation on the key elements of the cultural
differences and similarities particularly focusing on where the variation in each country might
be.
The presentation must include:
1. Similarities and differences in terms of cultural system and business practices between
the FOUR countries,
2. The preparation, adaptation, and repatriation of your managers when sending to the
following countries.

Group Presentation

Deadline- Presentations will be conducted on Week 5.

You and your team (not more than five students per group) are required to prepare a
presentation based on the key elements, with reference to the THREE deliverables as required
in the case, particularly focusing on the differences and similarities in practices of each
country.

The group presentation will be recorded and uploaded on YouTube in private mode by
students. It is the students’ responsibility to ensure that the recording is uploaded, and the
video works correctly for purposes of assessment before the specified deadline. The
presentation must not exceed 12 slides (excluding the cover slide, content page and the
reference list) and must not exceed 15 minutes in presentation time.

Slides must be submitted in PDF format, with 1 slide per page (open PowerPoint file and
save as PDF). The first slide must contain the module code and module name, group number
and group member names in full and student IDs.

This presentation will be an opportunity to receive feedback and students are able to
experience presenting as consultants in a formal environment.
Submission Information

Only the ONE appointed team leader (one individual per group) will be required to submit
both-
1. the group presentation link and
2. group presentation slides online via Canvas.

Softcopy Submission Format:

The file submitted for Group Assignment online MUST follow the naming standard as
below-
Each file must be titled in the sequence as below during submission-
Aug2023- MGT4231E- Group Number (Cover Page right up to Reference List and Appendix-
Group Meeting Record)

Example of file submitted by Group 8 with correct file name would be-

Other Specific Instructions for this Assignment

1. Theories, research and examples


It is recommended that your presentation incorporates both cultural theories and
perspectives, as well as market-researched information based on existing organisations. A
good assignment should include:
• An analysis of suitable cultural theories theories/perspectives that the organisation can
incorporate, including strengths and weaknesses
• Real-life relevant examples of practices currently adopted by other organisations, and
whether other organisations should follow their examples.
2. References and data used
Your reference sources may comprise the following:
• Text or reference books
• Journals
• News
• Case studies of real-life companies
• Other credible online sources of information- Forbes, Harvard Business Review, CNN, CNBC
• Blogs are NOT allowed
• at least FIFTEEN references are required

3. Format and presentation


• Fonts used should be Arial only with font size of 12 points
• No usage of dark backgrounds for slides
• Number the pages (at the bottom centre) except for the Cover Page
• Table of Content to be included
• Tables, graphs, and other diagrams clearly labelled, cited and listed in references
• Harvard Referencing format used for the reference list
