Introduction:
Learning a first language in infants is a remarkable and essential process. From birth,
babies are immersed in a world of sounds and words, and their natural ability to absorb and
understand language is truly astonishing. As they explore their surroundings and form bonds with
caregivers, they lay the foundation for communication, setting the stage for future cognitive and
social development. This early period is crucial for building a strong linguistic base, enabling
them to interact with the world and connect meaningfully with others as they grow.

In the following diagram, we will briefly explain the initial process of learning a first
language, based on Chapter 1 of the book "How Languages are Learned.". In this chapter, you
can find the various stages of the first language acquisition process, which are divided by years
and include events that can be observed and contribute to a child's language development.

Conclusion:
In conclusion, language learning during early childhood is highly advantageous due to the
brain's plasticity and early exposure, facilitating natural and seamless language acquisition. This
integration occurs deeply within an individual's linguistic repertoire, setting a strong foundation
for lifelong language proficiency and cognitive development.

So, early childhood is a critical period for learning, shaping a foundation for a lifetime of
intellectual, social, and emotional growth. The brain's rapid development during this time allows
for efficient absorption of knowledge and skills, making early childhood education and
experiences fundamental in nurturing well-rounded individuals with the capacity to adapt, learn,
and thrive throughout their lives.

For this reason, we understand that it is beneficial for children to be exposed to language
from their first years of life in order to achieve better learning. We can also identify which factors
affect this process and what can be improved to have better results.
