TITLE: HOW TECHNOLOGY HAS INFLUENCED YOUR DAILY LIFE AND
INTERACTIONS WITH OTHERS
Globalization and Modernization are two aspects that have contributed to the birth of information and communication technology. Information technology has developed very rapidly recently. In the 80's and 90's, cellphones and computers were still foreign and luxurious items for most people. Of course, this is different from today's communication tools such as cellphones that have become popular among the public. Sending letters becomes very easy and efficient via email. Apart from that, communication between individuals can also be done via online chat even though they are in various places and far apart. (Nuryanto, 2012) Information technology has certainly brought many changes to human life, since the advent of information technology, humans no longer recognize boundaries. Internet speed that supports information technology profoundly increases the quantity of human relations. But again quantity does not guarantee quality. While in the past, friendship could only be done by meeting face to face, of course now it has started to be replaced by looking at the screen via video call via smartphone. Its increasingly rapid development causes humans to become dependent on technology which Lauhan calls autoamputation. Apart from that, the nature of humans as social creatures is also starting to be eroded, which causes dehumanization. Apart from that, technology can create tension, provide various risks, shackle humans through hidden control systems, and dehumanize. Efforts that can be made as a solution to overcome the negative impacts of technological progress are to instill awareness in every individual about the importance of understanding the negative impacts of technological progress.
Nowadays the way many people interact with each other has changed because of technology in what ways has technology affected the types of relationships people make? Has this become a positive of negative development?
