Ms. Mary Lou C. Go Puco

RGC Dean, Student Affairs

Cebu Normal University

Osmeña Blvd., Cebu City, 6000 Cebu

Dear Ms. Puco,

Greetings!

I hope this letter finds you in good health and high spirits. I have recently been accepted into the
university's Bachelor of Arts in Literature program, and I am thrilled at the prospect of continuing my
education at such a renowned institution. However, I am in need of financial assistance to pursue my
academic goals, and I believe that the Cebu Normal University's scholarship would provide the necessary
support for me to excel academically and contribute to the university community.

I am a dedicated and diligent student who has consistently demonstrated a passion for learning and a
commitment to academic excellence. Throughout my high school years, I maintained a high GPA,
graduated with high honors, and actively participated in various extracurricular activities, which have
allowed me to develop strong leadership and interpersonal skills. Additionally, I have been recognized by
my teachers and peers for my exceptional work ethic and determination to succeed.

Unfortunately, while I am eager to continue my studies, I am faced with financial constraints that may
pose a challenge to achieving my goal. Our family is composed of six members. I have three more
siblings: two older sisters who are in college and one younger sister who's currently in high school. My
oldest sister has been through enough hardship in her life; she has been diagnosed with a cyst inside her
mouth for more than 5 years now and has undergone 3 surgeries already, the last one just this July. My
second sister also has a defect in her body; she has suffered depression, anxiety, PCOS, and other
medical illnesses that need daily medicine. She has also collapsed multiple times already. As the sibling
who's in a better state, I always do my best to help them and do all the tasks they cannot. My father is a
tricycle driver and is roughly earning ₱300 a day; his income is not enough to meet our needs. Recently,
he was diagnosed with heat stroke and high blood pressure, making it harder for him to earn money
since he was advised not to drive when the weather is hot as it may worsen his condition. Although my
mother is a utility worker, her salary is roughly ₱400 a day, which is not enough for our family. She has
also been diagnosed with breast cancer, which we cannot treat because we lack financial resources. My
family is in poor health and wealth. As the one who's healthy, I feel responsible for reducing their burden
financially and mentally, especially to my parents, who're buried in loans as it was for my sister's
previous operations. I can already feel how heavy the weight in their hearts is, and I want to lift that
weight by providing myself with my own allowance.

Although my current financial circumstances pose a challenge to my aspiration of attaining a higher

education, I firmly believe that every individual should have equal access to quality education. I am
confident that with the assistance of the Cebu Normal University scholarship, I would be able to fully
engage in my studies without the burden of financial stress. This scholarship would not only alleviate my
financial burdens but also serve as a source of motivation to further excel in my academic pursuits. I am
fully committed to making the most of this opportunity and giving back to the university community
through active involvement in various student organizations and community service initiatives.

Once again, I express my sincere gratitude for your consideration and support. I look forward to the
possibility of receiving the Cebu Normal University scholarship and continuing my academic journey at
Cebu Normal University.

Yours sincerely,

Cresthyl Ann Pacaña
