Introduction
1.1 General Information
Arab Company for Laboratories & Soil (ACES) is a specialized engineering com-
pany in site & geotechnical investigation, materials technology & testing, quality control of
projects, special studies, environmental studies & testing, and land & marine surveying.
ACES has an excellent track record for delivering the best value for its clients in terms of
responsiveness, consistency, and practical solutions. ACES main goal is to partner with its
clients, understand and exceed their expectations.

ACES possesses a highly skilled and specialized workforce and modern equipment,
which allows to provide its clients with punctual, competitive and high standard services
at all times and in all projects regardless of their size.
All of ACES tests are conducted in accordance with the highest international stand-

2.1 Geotechnical Drilling Facilities
ACES is equipped to carry out Off-shore and On-
shore drilling projects ranging from small size drilling
depth of few meters to big projects depth of more than
150m. Deep boreholes. Drilling activities include sam-

This instrumentation using Vibrating Wire Strain Gauges

concrete structure due to shrinkage. Shrinkage after

2.7 Special Studies Services & Facilities
ACES have developed good reputation in solving “Construction Problems”. Accordingly, ACES
established a special studies & project department to handle a wide range of projects with an
open-ended scope. ACES employs highly qualified specialists in highways, structural and
geotechnical engineering for this purpose. Also, state of the art equipment for destructive and
non-destructive testing are utilized by ACES. All available equipment are calibrated and in
accordance with the International Standards such as BS, EN, ASTM, DIN, AASHTO, CIRIA etc.

Surface Irregularities Test by Travelling Beam
Three meter long travelling beam device is used to check any irregularities in both
concrete and bituminous road surface. A sensing unit comprising a wheel connected to an
indicator provides a magnification of 4: 1. Deviation of the surface from a straight line is shown
on a incremental graduated scale.

The quality control of projects department is one of the largest departments of ACES.
ACES pioneered this activity in Jordan several years ago and this service is gaining popularity
with owners, engineers and contractors. ACES has implemented quality control programs for
majors projects in UAE, Qatar and Jordan such as Airports, Hotels, Hospitals, Thermal Power
Plants, Highways, Large Fuel Tanks, Dams, Precast Factories and other major industrial projects.
