KIX CEREAL
1.a Why did you think that one is the best choice?
Because it has low fat, high percentage of vitamins, not a lot of calories per serving, etc.
1.b Is the serving size for this particular cereal appropriate or not? Explain.
I think it is. Because the serving size is 1 ¼ cup, which allows the person to just eat one cup.
2 Look at the packaging on the different cereal boxes you analyzed. What catches your
eye? Are there nutritional claims that might entice people to buy and/or eat that product?
Discuss the advertising used to market this product. Use the nutritional claims sheet for support
in your response.
They use some phrases such as “mother-approved” and “can help lower cholesterol”,
which probably will entice people to buy the products. Those claims have no nutrition base
at all, which make people buy things they don’t really understand.
3 If you were a parent, would you think that the cereal you listed as the “healthiest” in
question one is a good choice for your child/children? Explain your answer. Provide at least two
facts about nutrition in your response.
Yes. Because the percentages of vitamins are good (between 5% and 10%) and the
percentage of total fat is low (2%).
